The history of Angelcrypt begins in the summer of 1997 in the Island of Malta (A small island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea) when guitarist Shawn Mizzi and drummer Josef Bray teamed up with the intent to create a new style of metal band. Later Nicholas Bray joined in as a keyboardist. Formerly known as Rattlesnake, the band then changed its name to Angelcrypt as it had a more powerful sound. Years of changing vocalists and bass players has not deterred these core band members from achieving the success that they have been working towards since the beginning. After three years, bass player Kevin Pisani joined the band in the summer of 2000 and fitted with the band since this day. The next step was to find a great vocalist but also had to be a better frontman. In early 2002 Juan Xerri joined in and fulfilled this role with flying colours. Summer 2002 saw the band in Pro-Studios Gozo recording their debut single Epileptic Lullaby. Angelcrypt’s goal to create a new style of metal was reached as, reviews gave the band all sorts of styles and seemed to not agree with each other. Band members gathered all the styles mentioned for Angelcrypt and agreed that “Melodic Thrash Metal” was the style that blended all titles together. In mid 2003 Angelcrypt headed back to Pro-Studios and with the help of John Cauchi they recorded, mixed and mastered their demo cd namely “From Abyss to Glory” which was then released in early 2004. Its uplifting music and spirit were proof that the band would let nothing stand in their way. Also in 2004 the band received an invitation from Remedy Records to join other heavy metal bands worldwide in a tribute cd to the British band Saxon. Angelcrypt accepted the offer and recorded the song “Altar of the Gods”. The fantastic Double CD carrying the name Eagleution was released in early 2005. Committed to creating an exceptional musical experience for their listeners, Angelcrypt set foot in recording new material, for promotion purposes. This time their newest single Thou Shalt Die was recorded in Hell Next Door Studios under the supervision of Steve (Lombardo). Released as a free full length mp3 version, this single was played throughout the world on various radio stations, and helped the band to boost their popularity abroad. 2007 marked an important year for Angelcrypt because this means that ten years have passed, and Angelcrypt is still up and running. A decade of playing melodic thrash metal pays off in giving the band extreme experience in perfecting its music. This clearly shows in the new material which is being written. 2007 was also a hard year for Angelcrypt as one of its oldest members, Nicholas, had to leave the band for personal reasons. Keyboards was a key role in Angelcrypt’s style but the band took this as a new challenge and decided not to recruit a new keyboardist but to stay with the rest of the 4 members and making the style more aggressive but still remain faithful to the melodies which Angelcrypt is known of. June 2007 saw the birth of Angelcrypt's latest release. This is the debut of the new line-up without keyboards. Meaner, Heavier, More aggressive, more hatred but still melodic thrash metal. "Echoes of death" is a 3 track EP targeted for internet distribution. It is a fully free downloadable EP and can be downloaded form www.myspace.com/angelcrypt. The aim is to promote the new Angelcrypt line-up as vast as possible to obtain worlwide recognition. All the work which you hear comes from the hearts and souls of these musicians, not only have they expressed their creative inspirations, but they also had a great time doing it! So be warned, for their enjoyment is quite contagious.
