Bill AKA John Wayne AKA Mr. Monsoon......"Pon de mic" again......First began by making rap demos in the 80's......Began to shift to listening more to Reggae music (like Yellowman, etc.) & found I sounded far better doing that style. Went to Jamacia for the first of 4 times, picked up the "patois" slang quick & got heavily into the current, faster dancehall reggae. The first Jamacian I met, "Doberman" named me John Wayne, "cause U talk slow like a Cowboy".....first cab driver said the same exact thing....the name stuck. Wrote the lyrics to "Call mi John Wayne" on the Air Jamaica flight back.....Went into K00K's studio to ride an obscure riddim & everyone seemed to like the 1 song CD demo. It was not taken as a joke. The CD began to move crowds @ local clubs in between national reggae acts, & on college radio (been told U can hear the Yellowman/Rap influences). Shortly after, dropped "Betta den the Rest" on the "Sail Away" riddim, & was invited to play "pon stage" in Montego Bay, JA. in May 2001......I "mash it up" with the real Jamacian backing band "Reflections". Tourists & locals especially loved it, & I saw lighter in de air & everything. Got 'nuff respect & was begged to stay in Jamacia & be "big star, drive pretty pretty car". (There are video tapes of the show out there somewhere....). Passed out CD's that were played on local Jamacian Sound Systems (I still get letters....). After a few years hiatus, but still following all the current dancehall "riddim's", I began to write again as "Mr. Monsoon". The comeback started late 2005 wit the roughest tune yet, "Anaconda Red" on the popular marching "Military riddim". It has been recently picked up by local college radio reggae/rap shows.... More big tune inna de works....working on some col-labbo stuff.....Check the new hype man, club jam "hands up" featuring Voicemail.......Respect
