About Me

On January 23, 1999 Lucien Simon was offered the opportunity to checkout of life when his skull collided with a cement pylon after he fell from an incomplete bridge in Sumatra Indonesia. He was travelling at 9okk/h on a moped and like all intrepid fools travelling the jungles was not wearing a helmet. ............................................................ ............................................................ .. Ten days later he awoke from his coma in Singapore, both arms busted, lost eyesight in one-eye and head injuries. He felt fine - in fact - it all, somehow made sense. It was in this hospital bed that Lucien understood for the first time since he was a small child that he loved life, that his sadness was no match for his will to live, and he then knew that more than anything he wanted to be a father, to have children, and be part of life's cycle. ............................................................ ............................................................ . "Sure, the world is doomed and mankind repeatedly fails to learn from its mistakes but that does not mean that this world, this life is not beautiful and life is not worth celebrating... " ............................................................ ........................................................... Prior to the accident Lucien was the primary songwriter and singer for bands like DUST (1995-1997), Z-Grade (1998) and the The Drowning Pool (1994). Dust (visit: http://www.myspace.com/therealdust) were an exercise in rock, dirt, sex, violence and ego - a cocktail that led to some extraordinary gigs and real life events - touring was always fatal. The reality for Lucien was that somehow he felt that he was hiding in the music, hiding in the persona, the possessed front man... hiding and afraid of the vulnerability and beauty in the songs and lyrics. Let’s just call it dumb come youth. By the time Lucien left the country he was sick of music, the business and the angst... so in hospital... broken left wrist, broken right elbow, half blinde... the damage not known.... ............................................................ ............................................................ ... Now, he has healed, he has two children and a loving partner... now he has the strength and courage to give, deliver, sing, enjoy, love, celebrate... be.... now he plays music and music plays him.
