Music:

Band Website: furthur.de
Band Members: Kurt Kreikenbom - drums, guitars, harp and vocals

I started late, at the age of 20 I got my first acoustic guitar. Made up the first band just for fun but kinda knew this was going to mean something to me. Three years later I bought a vintage drum kit (& I still play it). Playing drums came quite naturally (unlike the darn guitar), it's still what I love most. I started singing more seriously because I wanted to impress the rhythm guitar player of my band. It kinda stuck with me (though she wouldn't marry me). The songs kept coming ever since.

I've played with a couple of bands over the years, all kinds of styles including Folk Rock (drums, guitar and vocals), Punk (drums), free-jazzish improvised music and Krautrock (drums both). There's so much music I love, why should I limit myself by playing within a recognisable genre? Mixing it all up is the best anyway.

Recently, I've been doing solo shows (performing my own songs and a bunch of covers) and played drums in DOC SCHOKO. Easily the best band I ever had, because I can play everything that I know. Kraut is the teacher, punk is the preacher.

And just lately I got myself involved in yet another band: APACHE BLANKET. A 4 piece outfit dedicated to all kinds of folk music, bluegrass, rockabilly and some more styles. They all mix surprisingly well.

bands:
LES SOUS-MARINS VERTS (1986-88)

Take The Guitar Player For A Ride - Peter Laughner & friends
...Peter's theory was: if only I take enough speed I'm gonna be the next Lou Reed. He succeeded, but he died very young. His recordings with several bands (e.g. Rocket From The Tombs, the band that eventually split into Pere Ubu and The Dead Boys) or just him and the cassette recorder are outstanding, most of them simply incredibly fantastic and up there with all of his heroes - Reed, Eno, Iggy, you name them. If you want to know more about the man and his music, there's an expert right at myspace, Mr Derek DePrator .

In A Mellow Mood - The Fleetwoods
