I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm 35, single, living in Indy. I'm an editor by day and a TV connoiseur by night. I watch way too much television and need to get out in public more. I am pissed that NBC cancelled Crossing Jordan and is reviving The Apprentice. My dog won't hold interesting conversations with me, although he does keep trying to have barfing contests with me. So far, I'm not winning and neither is my carpet. I've been told that I'm outspoken and it's known that I say what should be said when no one is saying it. These same people say that I can be intimidating. I like light beer, rather than dark. I don't really like to cook, but I'm all up for going out to a good restaurant or for ordering a pizza. I like to meet lots of people and will start silly conversations with people when drinking just to get the party rolling. I am a comedy whore--I love watching comedians and probably will be one in a future life. I drive a VW Beetle. My summer home is my winter home.Quote from my mom: "If Jan thought that anyone was insulting her brother or sister on the school bus, she'd be up in a flash beating them up with her lunchbox." I pull the same shit if you screw with my close friends too :-)

My Interests

good beer, good food, good fun (Oh wait, that slogan is taken already). Quirky people who can make me laugh. Dogs who are cuddly and cute. Guys who aren't self centered, rude or smelly ... in that order. Funny people. Situations that will make a good story later on. People who don't eat roaches (you know who you are). Pizza, watching movies, the occassional IU basketball game, great live shows, good yet silly books to take your mind off things.

I'd like to meet:

all the guys from Deadliest Catch, the barenaked ladies (oh wait, I already met Steven, but I'd LOVE to meet Ed), Dame Judy Dench, Bono, Brad Pitt (why not?), George Clooney (charming, just charming), Tony Soprano, Kermit the Frog, Steve Van Zandt, Jonathan Antin (it's all about great hair!), John Lennon, Pope John Paul II, Michael Hutchence, Bruce Springsteen, Janis Joplin, Jerry Garcia, Oprah (I want a car, you need a car!), Anthony Clark, Robin Williams, Bill Murray, the muffin man, Harrison Ford, George Washington, my paternal grandfather. The world has lost one of its most talented actors, John Inman, from Are You Being Served? I always wanted to meet John and it's truly a sad day to know that Mr. Humphries is no longer. John, wherever you are, you will be missed.

Music:

U2, Barenaked Ladies, Ben Folds, Rolling Stones, Beck, Doors, Led Zepplin, the Who, Mellencamp, Lenny Kravitz, INXS (old stuff), Nickel Creek, Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, Big and Rich, Willie Nelson, Kid Rock, Eminem, Ray Charles, Elvis, Beatles, Real Big Fish, Nerfherder, Dixie Chicks, I listen to it all~rock, country, folk, rhythm and blues, ska, punk, music that takes me back to feeling like I'm in college again and my biggest worry is which party to go to on a Friday night. I'm up for listening to any live band during the summer, even if I'm not that into them. It's all about the summer scene, man, the scene. Second to that, the beer, man, the beer. During the winter I hibernate on my couch.

Movies:

I love comedies, dramas, animations, and action movies. I've watched all of the Indiana Jones and Back to the Futures movies a zillion times. Same goes for twister, 8 mile, shrek, planes trains and automobiles, wizard of oz, and ferris bueller's day off. Right now, I'm watching Old School for the 4th time. I'm going streakin!

Television:

E.R., the office, grey's anatomy, are you being served, as time goes by, goodnight sweetheart, anything Law & Order or CSI, how I met your mother, the new adventures of old christine, new seinfeld, deadliest catch, blow out, little people big world, Amazing Race, desperate housewives, sopranos (when I get the chance), my name is Earl, will & grace, i love lucy, benson, roseanne (can you sense a theme here???).

Books:

I work in a publishing house and have been burned out on reading literature for years. I'm waiting to get over it. If I do read, it's mostly magazines, light literature, online blogs, and crazy junk you find on the net. I do wish my friends would quit sending those emails with the phrase "If you don't forward this email on in 12 hours, bad luck will come to you, your family, your kids, a plague of locusts will come, Bush will remain in office forever, yada yada yada." It gets old.

My weekend trip to IU

For the last several months I've been thinking a lot about college. A lot about the time I spent there, the friends I made, and the experiences I had at IU. I've been thinking for years about going ba...

The end of summer and the beginning of Fall

How glorious this time of year can be from one minute to the next. In the morning you're so cold that your snot freezes to your face and in the afternoon you're sweating like a pig and dreaming o...

Love happens quickly ... and so does hate

It's come to my attention again that I've not blogged in a long time. I thought about placing a huge rant on my page about all the crazy shit that's been going on in my life, but my fingers probably w...

Holding grudges

Back in the day (with the day being back in the 90s), I could hold a grudge. Really really hold one. Nothing would come between me and my grudge. I would secretly feed it at night, when things go...

I think I’m broken ...

When I was younger, I always imagined where I'd be at this age. And while some of that vision was just stupidity, some of it was real, attainable, desired. And now that I've hit this age, I realize th...

Its 4:30 in the morning ...

and I'm still up. What the hell? I should've been in bed hours ago, blissfully sleeping instead of wandering my house wondering what the hell .... Tonight was and wasn't a good night. Those of you who...

It really amazes me ...

... how I know so many people who have so much shit going on in their lives that they don't have any time to do anything. They actually create things to do whether it's a craft of some sort, gardening...

10 odd things about me

The rules in this game of tag are simple -- once you have been tagged, you must write a blog with ten, weird, random things, little known facts or habits about yourself. At the end choose 10 people to...

My neighbor, the yard nazi

As some of you know, I bought my first home a year ago last month. Instead of tossing my money at a whole house, I bought half of one, or technically I purchased a condo. It's a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath mo...

it has come to my attention that I've not blogged in a very very long time. A lot has and hasn't changed in the past several weeks. For one, I'm in the middle of the snottiest, grossest, hack up a lun...
