Hearing a song for the very first time and have it change your entire day.....Long useless nights of playing poker with my friends.....walking through the city at night and discover new fiery creatures.....taking a nap in the pool.....having someone wash my hair, or just play with it.....tickle- and pillowfights, even at 25.....herbal scents.....Ghent at night.....Brussels at night.....Big Cities, like London or Cairo, Cairo is wicked.....meeting people and having that 'click'.....chocolat.....dancing like I do in my room when no one's watching.....falling in love, I'm a big fan of love, a true sucker for romance ( but romance being more than candle light dinners, true heartfelt spontaneous things that never had the intention of being romantic)..... Anne Frank's concept of 'life artist', meaning you have the power to make your day shine brighter just by paying attention to small nice stuff, or having certain tricks to make annoying things not so bad.....photography....words, gracefully put together in sentences like: And I remembered you, with my soul clenched in that sadness of mine that you know (Pablo Neruda).....art.....making people laugh with a bambi dance when they're in a bad mood.....photography.....singing....old movie stars and pin ups.....the swing in baudelo park.....seeing a great movie and talking about it when it's over, I don't like great things to go by without giving them the proper attention they deserve.....
I'd like to meet:
bands, nice, positive people, photographers, anyone truly loving music, photography...And very specific: upcoming bands, to shoot at their gigs (preferably in Belgium and neighboring countries), bands that are going on tour and for some reason want to take a photographer along: I'm strong, so I can be your bodyguard, I'm a good cook, so you won't starve
Music:
Mostly I'm about jazz, blues and rock 'n roll, but I listen to everything, and I like everything that's well made or just fun. I'm no music snob. Movies:
I love old movies: The original King Kong, Frankenstein, Dracula, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, or Marx brothers' movies... I get lost in the glory of moviestars like Mae West and Marilyn Monroe. ---------------I am fond of thriller and horror movies, but am easily carried away by them. and always end up watching the screen breathlessly, a blanket clutched in my fists. I've never been able to watch The Shining all the way through without a break to ease my nerves. But I absolutely love Ichi the Killer. --------------My all time favorite movie is the cook, the thief, his wife and her lover by Peter Greenaway. No other movie had such an impact on me. ----------------I must admit: I have seen Bridget Jones' Diary for over thirty times, probably making it my most viewed movie all times, I can quote it from beginning to the end. And I know I'll probably go to hell for it. ---------------I have seen Romeo+Juliet three times at the theatre. I used to have a huge R+J poster on my wall, it was the first website I ever visited on the web, I have both soundtrack cd's and have the movie on dvd now. I still like it, especially the queen mab scene and the one with the blue neon crucifixes. --------------I put a thriller on mute when I'm too caught up. --------------Greenaway, Fassbinder, Tarantino, Hitchcock, Lynch, Kusturica, Kubrick, Jonze, von Trier, Almodovar, Zhang, Van Sant..... ---------------A list of other movies I like: La voyage dans la lune, birth of a nation, intolerance, les vampires, M, Mabuse, à bout de souffle, c'est arrivé près de chez vous (man bites dog: it happened in your neighborhood), requiem for a dream, underground, american beauty, lost in translation, lost highway, les triplettes de belleville, american history x, fight club, rear window, reservoir dogs, pulp fiction, a clockwork orange, being john malkovich, the shawshank redemption, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, la vie revée des anges, irreversible, almost famous, amores perros, dogma, donnie darko, eyes wide shut, fucking amal, full metal jacket, moulin rouge, oh brother where are thou, pi, silence of the lambs, the others, the magdalene sisters, the great dicator, todo sobre mi madre, the pianist, the shining, the birds, lock stock and two smoking barrels, dolores claiborne, fear and loathing in las vegas, manneken pis, true romance, cry baby, the virgin suicides, samaritan girl, sin city, la dolce vita, eraserhead, black cat white cat, house of the flying daggers, ichi the killer, gentlemen prefer blondes, triumf des willens, singing in the rain, vertigo, psycho, blow up, a hard day's night, night of the living dead, the exorcist, turks fruit, nosferatu, raging bull, scarface, lola rennt, my own private idaho, All about eve, Mr Smith goes to Washington, The Wizard of Oz, Casablanca, elephant, the breakfast club, shine, memento, le fabuleux destin d'amélie poulain, the pianist, rear window, a bout de souffle, searching for the wrong eyed Jesus, Napoleon Dynamite, Das Kabinett Des Doktor Caligari, Metropolis -------------------movies I really need to see: the birth of a nation, , sherlock Jr., the phantom of the opera, Pantserkruiser Potemkin, Freaks, Olympia, Fantasia, The Jazz singer, Der Blaue Engel, guys and dolls, Hiroshima mon Amour, Salo o le centoventi giornate di sodoma, ran, funny games, cicade de deus, the rocky horror picture show,...
Television:
No TV actually. Tv sucks the life out of you. 90% of things aired is shit, and I don't like the fact that you have to adjust to their broadcasting shedule to see the few things worth watching. Not to mention the commercial force-feed. Call me a snob, digital tv is the only way for me......I love Rome, Carnivale, Six Feet Under, Lost, Heroes,
old shows like I love Lucy and classic Batman and all time classic: the Simpsons. Nothing beats the Simpsons. (and don't give me any of that Futurama shit)I absolutely detest anything reality/ human interest.
Books:
art, philosophy, photography, film, history, a few novels and poetry books as well. Most of all I'm a novel reader:
100 years of solitude - Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Too loud a solitude- Bohumil Hrabal, The discovery of heaven -Harry Mulisch, The temple of the golden paviljon- Yukio Mishima, l'écume des jours- Boris Vian, breakfast on Pluto- Patrick McCabe, Xanthippe- Paul Lebeau, American Taboild-James Ellroy, High Society - Ben Elton, tropic of cancer- Henry Miller ... I really really need to reed Millers Sexus, Nexus, Plexus trilogy.
Heroes:
Anyone who dies knowing he truly lived.
