Sodom and Gomorrah let the DJ play, 'cuz we're only gone tomorrow and here today.

About Me

Here I am! After some prodding from several friends/myspacers (you know who you are!), I decided to bite the bullet and enter this weird little world! As a native of Los Angeles, I actually have never found another place I want to live (at least for the time-being). I grew up at the beach being the surfer-girl who hung-out with the punks, and feel LA offers an incredible blend of all types! I think that for the most part I live (and work) to experience life, people and places. With that being said, I am always up for an adventure--especially if it involves travel or something new. I just love exploring alternate cultures and have been very fortunate to have started travelling as a child (thanks Mom!)--including Japan, a fair amount of Europe, the UK, Mexico, and the US. I am a firm believer that there is a distinct difference between a holiday and a trip--both are equally appealing to me, but there's a time to relax in the sun and a time to really dive in. There are still many places I've yet to see, and suffice it to say looking to go to next. India is probably on the top of my list (looking at checking it off in the not-too-distant future however), as well as a good ol' tour of the southern part of the States. The puzzle pieces of my life seem to finally fit. After years of working in entertainment and fashion PR; even having my own little company, I did an about face (I think becoming a mother had something to do with this). I shifted my priorities, and with the blessings and support of my family I am doing something that makes me happy--being a full-time Kundalini Yoga Teacher. This career change works particularly well for me as I favor my feet not being shod as often as possible (well, except when I wear heels)! I am a rabid environmentalist and conservationist, and while I still prefer to hug people over trees, there are times that people can really disappoint me in how they see themselves and their footprint on this planet! To counter this apathy I see in others, I've become a bit of an activist as of late (I'm kind of fiesty by nature). Many people who know me tell me I should channel this passion into politics...only problem is that I've got a bit of a colored past! ;-)..width="425" height="350 .... width="425" height="350" .... width="425" height="350" .... width="425" height="350" ..

My Interests

Myspace Backgrounds
First and foremost, trying not to take myself, or others, too seriously. Interests in general would be the arts. I like to collect--all sorts of objects--everything from pretty vintage water pitchers, crosses, all things chicken, photographic art, day-of-the-dead folk-art from Mexico, I've got a thing for artwork with the Virgin Mary , and I love the color red. Music (even though I haven't a musical talent in my bones!), literature, etc. Just keep me away from musical theatre and we're good! I adore animals both wild and the tame variety. Obviously yoga and meditation , modern dance (both to watch and in my youth to perform myself). I love being outside and still worship the sun and the sea--I feel at my best when doing such. Spending most of my time with the family and dear friends over good food and drink is my idea of a perfect day. I fancy myself an amateur photographer (many photos on this page are taken by moi), but it took some convincing for me to go digi. Saving the planet from Prez Bush and his cronies. Last but not least, figuring out how the dandelions keep popping up through the stones (I'm a ponderer!)..

I'd like to meet:

Salinger (still a fantastic read); Dubliners by James Joyce, Daisy Miller by Henry James; Anais Nin's Little Birds (remember reading her books quite a lot when I was younger); read Graceland by Chris Abani recently--remarkable first novel; Orlando, Mrs. Dalloway, Between the Acts, A Passionate Apprentice all by Virginia Wolfe; Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Lethem; can't forget all the books by Gore Vidal, Anne Tyler & Kurt Vonnegut; Oh Pure & Radiant Heart by Lydia Millet; Confederacy of the Dunces by John Kennedy Toole; Mona Simpson's Anywhere But Here; Accordian Crimes by E. Annie Proulx and her book of shorts Close Range; Running in the Family by Michael Ondaatje is a family memoir so well written you can feel and smell all that is on the page. I could go on and on...My favorite poets include Maya Angelou (I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings is one of her books of fiction, but it reads like poetry to me); Herberto Padilla (his poem The Sleeping Beauty is simply perfect); Rubiyat of Omar Khayyam (I've begun to collect copies of this book as it has been printed for hundreds of years--many copies have incredible artwork) ; Charles Bukowski (hits you spang between the eyes everytime); Pablo Neruda--what more can I say--brilliant!;Elizabeth Barrett Browning--a classic as is Emily Dickinson.Everybody should read The Story of Ferdinand--it's a book for kidlings of all ages!

Sam 8/1989-8/2007 RIP

Our beautiful boy, Sam, died in my arms, at home, Friday afternoon.  He was 18 years old, and frankly I don't really remember what it's like not to have him around&rubbing his cold, wet nose...
