YOUTH VOTER TURNOUT UP SHARPLY IN 2006 MIDTERM ELECTION!

CIRCLE, (Center For Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement), has released their findings about youth voter turnout in the 2006 midterm elections and the results show a sharp increase in the youth voter turnout compared to 2002. The results are expected to also increase once all the absentee and provisional tallies are reported in.According to their research, an estimated 10 million young Americans under the age of 30 voted in Tuesday's midterm election, an increase of at least two million compared to 2002. The estimated youth voter turnout rate or percentage of young eligible voters who cast votes also jumped from 20% in 2002 to at least 24% in 2006.Great News! We here at JTM have been hard at work urging the youth to register and vote, and thousands of our "Rock Your Rights 2" DVDs were distributed prior to the midterm elections to voter registration and “Get Out The Vote!” groups that features artists urging everyone to vote; so we feel proud in being part of this successful turnout. So, tell your friends that the youth vote is on the rise and is getting more and more powerful with each election, and it is and will be a formidable voting group that politicians will listen to and take notice of!Let's get ready for the 2008 elections!

Influences: Nationally known entertainment attorney Jeff Cohen and other music industry veterans founded JTMP in order to fill a particular need in today's world - connecting with and giving a voice to youth & young professionals by speaking a language they understand, music. Music plays a significant role in a democratic society by providing musicians with the means to share their thoughts and values with others, and providing others with a unique visual and aural means to learn about issues and participate in democratic process. Our goal is to help eliminate political and social apathy and compliment the terrific work being done by other civil liberties, human rights and activist organizations. Our mission is to use music to focus attention on privacy rights, due process, equality, women's issues, fairness, freedom of expression, peace and voting. JTMP firmly believes that the full power of these rights can only be achieved through the rule of law and the democratic process.
Sounds Like: Social justice! If you are a band that wants to be on our "Rock Your Rights" DVD and will be in the Washington, DC area, drop us a line at:[email protected]
