Downing Street Memo is a non-traditional rock project started byBil Green (guitar/vocals) and Cory Barnt(drums) in the early spring of 2006. The two wrote and recorded"Illusory State of Utopia" and enough interest was sparked toenlist the talent of Storm Kills 4 members, JoelHorstman (guitar/vocals) and Bryan Graham(bass).
The band has just wrapped up recording sessions for a 4 song EPentitled Red&Black. It is set for release on RuralMayhem Records. Bil has written the music andlyrics and Cory is doing all the recording, engineering, editing and mixingat the Ville Recording House, just outside the city ofLima, Ohio. Sale price will be $3!
The band was started by the two former bandmates(Suburban Mayhem 1996-98) who didn't want to let theirtalents go idle. Neither were actively doing anything musical. Both had busy work schedules and thought themost productive use of their talents would be as a studio project.They began having jam sessions and after six months of feeling itout, they put together the song that would become "Illusory Stateof Utopia". In another six months the song was recorded andreleased. After hearing the song, Joel Horstmancontacted Bil to fill a position in future projects and after onesession was asked and accepted to come on full time. Soon,Joel's bandmate, Bryan joined on bass and the two haveseemlessly integrated into the project.
Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Faith No More, and Amorphis are afew of the bands that could be called influences and used forsound comparrison. However there is no blueprint.
