BMD (a.k.a. BluntMaster Dred) was born in Poland in 1979 as Michal Borczon. Six years later, his teachers decided that he had some musical talent and should attend a musical school. However, the choice made by a 6-year-old was different: he decided to express himself through the music the way he feels about it. He started experimenting with different instruments: drums, cymbals, guitars, simple synthesizers and a flute. His first professional instrument was an electric guitar which he got for his 15th birthday. In the years 1996-98 he was a guitarist and a vocalist of a band playing mainly hard core and nu metal. He was also involved in tens of musical projects, working with different musicians and experimenting with different genres. In 1999 he moved to Gdansk, to the coast of Poland. New friendships resulted in further expansion of his musical horizons: he started experimenting with his voice, being an MC and bringing fast freestyle rhymes to happy hardcore, jungle, 2step and drum’n’bass. In 2001 he went to the UK. The influence of British club scene turned out to be significant. Over a year later, he came back to Poland with a pair of turntables and a mixer. He spent the next few months mixing, scratching and searching for new records. At the beginning 2003, together with a group of his DJing friends, he set up XLNT crew. After over two years of DJing and working with different kinds of artists on their projects, recording vocals, scratching and remixing other people’s productions, he decided to make some of his own music again. In 2005 he went to the UK once more. The following year, he recorded his debut promo CD ‘Good Things Come to Those Who Break”. He has been working on his productions since he came back to Poland in September 2006. The music he presents in his DJ sets differs depending on the party he plays at and ranges from nu funk, funky breaks and big beats through funky/vocal/disco house to nu skool breaks. His own productions are characterized as funky big beat. In October 2007 he signed to Timewarp Music, a fresh funky record label based in Athens, Greece.
