Mkr, privately Michal K (being a convicted criminal, his full surname cannot be given… or maybe he is afraid of a number of claims for alimony… actually, the reason is not that important… maybe it’s just his trip) was born… ah, fuck it! It will not be just another boring bio from which you will get to know what magical influence the music had on his life, what instruments he played as a child or how fascinated he was with his first nicked vinyl! No! Yet, Michael has liked music since he was a child; one of his first memories is Kraftwerk’s video clip to the song Das Model which is still one of his favourite tunes. His first musical fascination, which lasts till today – Queen, started when he watched a 3-hour video tape fully devoted to Freddie & co., which he took from his mother. With time, new bands started appearing, of which the most standing out was Aerosmith. In the meantime, he also had the chance to know some sung poetry and bands like Anawa or Stare Dobre Malzenstwo. It is enough to be averagely smart to notice that Mkr likes diversity. Right. As regards the music, a lot was happening in his lifetime; high school not only brought even heavier sounds exceeding rock music, but also numerous other musical fascinations inspired greatly by Machina magazine (the first one, of course;P). Following the high school years, thanks to the love of his life he learned a lot about soul and music from Motown and got to know 70s and 80s disco even better. The love of his life went her own way and the love for the music remained. Mkr has never played any musical instrument; as a kind of person who always knows better, it was too hard for him to stand tiring grumbling of some old beak. Though, one has to admit that he can play well… He has mastered playing on one’s nerves to absolute perfection, after which the higher state might only be ascension. It is good to mention on this occasion that Mkr’s second name is Irony and some of his acquaintances even call him Master of Taunt, although inherent modesty does not allow him to use this title everyday. The adventure with mixing started quite accidentally. At one of the many parties he decided that he could do much better than the ones whose music he was dancing to and because a chance of bargain buying of two turntables and a mixer came up, he decided to buy the lot instead of the planned purchase of a photo camera. Thus, instead of becoming a press photographer he was to become a DJ. The beginnings of this adventure date back to the times of student hostels and French house music, long hours of parties, back-to-back mixing sessions and lasting for a few days after parties. His official party debut is the beginning of 2005 and one of the parties of the EndevouR series, though, personally a more important debut for him was Dred’s birthday party at Soho club which was brutally ended by a Sunday morning visit of a bunch of sad-looking gentlemen wearing blue uniforms called in by frustrated neighbours. Later, other parties in Tricity and elsewhere followed. Being both, a listener and a player of music, his musical taste has been changing a lot although in this respect he prefers the term ‘evolving’. From the very early fascinations with funky/disco house, he moved through progressive house and breaks, later with the touch of electro house, to get to the sounds of tech house, very often brushing by techno. Thus, his mixes are interesting and energetic blends of many different sub-genres of house music which make everybody find something for themselves in and there is no way you could get bored or stand by the wall when listening to them! Lately, Mkr has got to the point where playing and mixing music is not enough and decided to produce some of his own tunes. Although these are just the beginnings in the privacy, we can be sure that not long from now we will also be dancing to the sounds of his own productions.
