Mr. Thing and Mr. Place got their start in October 2003 as stars of a music video for The Dandy Warhols "We Used To Be Friends," submitted for a contest on ifilm.com to which the winners were never announced. All parties involved claim a moral victory.
Several months later, during a 12 hour shift as a projectionist at a local moviehouse, the relatively unknown and relatively untalented, DANIEL KIBBLESMITH, had a vision while talking to himself. He said, outloud to the empty room, "Hey, I could do this with puppets and people could watch it and then ask themselves why they watched it." Thus, a get rich quick scheme was born.
F.A.Q.Q. Which one is which? A. One of them is green and the other is yellow. Also, the yellow one is usually on the left, but not all the time.Q. Why aren't Mr. Thing & Mr. Place funny? A. Haha, I know, right? Some of them, especially older ones, weren't really trying to be funny. Far more try and fail. I maintain that the theme music is funny every time.Q. Why do they have the same voice? A. Because they're completely interchangeable, hence the generic names. They're not well-written, evolving characters with personalities, they're just vehicles for abstract concepts and unlikely conversations. Unless they're non-characters PLAYING characters who are, themselves, playing characters (i.e. "The Best Wing", "Whodunnit?"). Understand?Q. No? A. That is okay. This just means you are retarded. They will not execute you for being retarded in America unless you commit a crime or you are a baby and no one is looking. In conclusion, you love Mr. Thing & Mr. Place.Message me, or contact Kibblesmith @ gmail.com for DVD prices and info, or visit Cafepress.com/kibblesmith for extremely unprofitable (to me), but professionally made merch.Seriously, visit Mr. Thing & Mr. Place at Kibblesmith.com
