This is a fan site dedicated to one of the formal lead singers of the Temptations from 1983-1996, Ali-Ollie Woodson. He is, quite simply, the Voice. The name Ali-Ollie Woodson may not sound familiar to large numbers of readers, but to those in the Soul music business, he is known as one of the greatest modern singers. Born Sept 12, 1951, this Detroit native is a gritty and expressive voiced soul/r&b singer, songwriter, and keyboardist. In a career than spands more than 25 years, Woodson has worked as a lead singer for the Drifters and replaced Teddy Pendergrass for Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes before attempting to audtion for the Temptations in the 70's after their current lead singer, Dennis Edwards departed from the group for the first time. However, he was passed over in favor of Louis Price. Woodson would finally receive his chance and in 1983 when Edwards left for a second time, Ali joined the Temptations. It was while with them, they scored smash hits with songs like "Treat Her Like a Lady" and "Lady Soul." Edwards returned to the Temptations and replaced him but was gone after a year, allowing Woodson to return in 1988. He remained with the Temptations until 1996. His last album with the Temptations was 1995's "For Lovers Only." Ali has now formed his own group called the Emperors of Soul. In 2001, he released his first and long overdue solo album, "Right Here All Along."
