About Me

With two self released critically acclaimed albums already under her belt 'Screwing Lies' [2001 Deluce Recordings] and 'Passion Play' [2003 Deluce Recordings] Katy Carr is looking forward to 2008/2009. A wonderful and eclectic third album is to be released later this year and she is looking forward to presenting it to you with her new group of musicians comprising of Katy on piano, keyboards, ukulele and voice, Jon Cottle - Cello and effects, Pascale Pooran on oboe and vocals and Becky on percussion and BVs. Recorded in a bedroom studio in Muswell Hill, North London with producer Nick Crofts anticipate a carefully crafted album of beauty honing the talents of Katy Carr's songwriting and the vast spectrum of sonic delights that 'Crofty' adds together with the high quality of additional musicians they have pulled out of London's woodwork...Some quotes Katy has achieved from her previous two releases‘Definitely one for the Mercury Prize Jury to consider’ The Times ‘Resonant, if slightly mad, debut by alt - folk star in waiting’ Q **** ‘Second album from English dance-folk prodigy. ’ Uncut *** ‘The DIY ethos of punk is back. My Interests

Music:

Band Website: "katycarr.com
Band Members: Katy Carr on piano and voice with backing vocals from Marlene Dietrich and Edith Piaf. Expect the gentle tone of a Spitfire Mk 1 as it soars with balletic grace in the skies above and maybe the roaring of a 1936 Mercedes-Benz 500K racing around the Berliner Ring in the midday heat....
Influences: Singing 1940s songs on a green ukulele to my English Grandma who is now 94 years old, listening to her recall life events from the 1920s,30s and 40s - with specific interest in WW2. Visiting the Spitfire exhibition and the Lockheed 10A Electra, serial no 1037 Aircraft made in 1935 - [as flown by Ameila Earhart on her last ever 1937 flight attempt to circumnavigate around the globe] at The Science Museum in South Kensington. Poland - Ja kocham Polska i bigos i pierogi and watching Fred and Ginger films - everytime i see them dance to 'Cheek to Cheek' I cry!
Sounds Like: A smokey bar in 1940s London - love, laughter, sirons an' all with a sing-a-long 'round the ol' Joanna. Historical reference is key to the sound however allow a couple of spoons of 21st Century technology to soften the ears....
Record Label: Deluce recordings
