About Me

Singer and composer working in film, tv, concerts, gigs, radio, theatre and anywhere that will have me...Kirsten Morrison is a singer, composer and violinist who has worked as a musician in many various fields: as a composer for film, tv programmes, commercials, radio plays and theatre, and songwriter, arranger, backing musician and vocalist for several artists including Mara Carlyle, Edwyn Collins, Dave Gray, Republica and Atomic Kitten. In the last few years she has also performed as an opera singer with several companies in and around London. She recently performed with NMG opera at the BAC in Microsoft the Opera by Alfie Thomas and in an alternative version of the Magic Flute directed by film-maker Martin Jones. This year her opera Flood (extracts on video page) about climate change was performed at the Arcola theatre and she is also currently working with New Opera Hero and Burst TV on a multi-media opera pushing back the boundaries of traditional operatic form to include sampling, film and interactive performance. She also performs her own songs influenced by poets such as Blake, Rossetti, Siddall and Taylor Coleridge, with appearances at the Latitude and Norfolk festivals as well as at various venues in London. New Opera Hero recently performed in Cairo with an eclectic cast of acrobats, jugglers and film-makers and even managed a quick recital in the great pyramid at Giza… Recent gigs include the 12-bar, Hoxton Hall and the Cross Kings and the Moseley Folk Festival.
