About Me

Bio

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, James Earl Anderson, III (a.k.a Jim-E-Mac), migrated west to Long Beach, California in 1997. While living in Long Beach, Jim-E-Mac had the opportunity to collaborate with many musicians and songwriters including techno funk pioneer Reggie Griffin (songwriter of the “Message” by Grandmaster Flash and producer of Boyz II Men, the Bee Gees, Toni Braxton, and the Isley Brothers) and Jim and Gee LaBeaud (songwriters and producers for “Same Place, Same Time” on the Gerald Levert Groove On album, featured on “Answering Service” by Gerald Levert, Mary J. Blige, and many others). The inspiration from recording with these music pioneers led Jim-E-Mac to return to Indianapolis, Indiana in early 2000 and start his own independent label called Take Over Records (“Take Over”). In 2001, Jim-E-Mac released his project “Don’t Flirt with the Game” on Take Over. “Don’t Flirt with the Game” sold 4,000 units. Jim-E-Mac followed-up “Don’t Flirt with the Game” with several other underground street albums released through the Midwest. These albums helped Jim-E-Mac spread his cult following and sold several thousand units over a two (2) year period. His cult following also led Jim-E-Mac to be featured on two movie soundtracks. In July of 2002, Jim-E-Mac’s collaboration with Gutta Boy on “Awh Damn” appeared on the soundtrack to the movie Jacked Up starring Bizzy Bone of Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony. The following year (2003), “Awh Damn” also appeared on the soundtrack to the movie Playas Ball starring Allen Payne (the Cosby Show), Elise Neal (All of Us), MC Lyte, and Treach of Naughty by Nature.

The relationships Jim-E-Mac developed through his travels around the Midwest, led him to form Gerch Entertainment (“Gerch”), in 2004, with several Indianapolis music insiders. On Gerch, Jim-E-Mac set out to put his own chokehold on the music game. In July 2004, Jim-E-Mac started production of his first national debut CD. He worked with producers from coast to coast in developing his album. In February 2005, Jim-E-Mac secured a national distribution deal with distributor Select-O-Hits based in Memphis, Tennessee. In June 2005, Jim-E-Mac unveiled the nationally released album God Bless America with absolutely no promotional money. With God Bless America Jim-E-Mac sought to create a work that summarized his years of loyal service to the “Game”. By telling his “truth” about our society, the modern black family, and the “Streets” Jim-E-Mac endeavored to create his own urban music masterpiece. God Bless America went on to sell 6,758 units through word of mouth and with no promotion. With songs like “Cadillac” licensed as a promotional commercial by Lockhart Cadillac to heartfelt anthems like “My Family”, Jim-E-Mac sought to set the record straight about life, liberty, and the America’s urban backdrop. The buzz generated by God Bless America led the NFL World Champion Indianapolis Colts (the Colts”) to requests that Jim-E-Mac create a home theme song for the team during the 2006 season. Jim-E-Mac accepted the Colts offer and wrote the song “This is Our House” for the team; which the team still used to date at home games.

In early 2007, Jim-E-Mac signed with Artist World Productions (“AWP”) an Atlanta based music production company. The same year (2007), Jim-E-Mac in collaboration with several in-house AWP producers began work on his new album tentatively entitled Torn Between II Worlds. With singles like “Black Queen”, “Chevy Thang”, “My Struggle”, and “Raw” Jim-E-Mac seeks to bring a twist of excitement, touch of humor, and a foundation of reality and truth back to urban music. Currently, Jim-E-Mac’s popularity in Indianapolis, Indiana, led Radio One station Hot 96.3 to put his single “Black Queen” in rotation.

Having worked with the likes of 3-6 Mafia, 8 Ball & MJG, Juvenile, 50 Cent, Scarface, and Yo Gotti; Jim-E-Mac knows what it takes to make it in the music business. Everyone is entitled to fifteen (15) seconds of fame. Therefore, sit back, relax, and experience Jim-E-Mac.
