THOUGHT CRIME
In Los Angeles, 1992 I began mastering at the onset of the new digital revolution. The onslaught of digital recordings with the advent of the A-dat and then DA-88 recorders were desperate for the ears that could work with the incredible new sound that was quickly earning the reputation of being sterile and pristinely painful. Like many others, I fought to create a closer representation of the enduring analog warmth that gives a production it’s timeless longevity while honoring and embracing the new mediums powerful frontier. My reputation grew quickly amongst the independent artist and label community, for my ability to honor the artist’s intentions and blend it with the optimal mastered sound. By the end of 1996 I had been credited on over one thousand projects.
Today, my technology to create astounding work is truly mind-blowing. From Mp3s to High Definition Surround Sound projects, mastering has never been more exciting. ~ William Raven
