About Me
With easily over a decade of experience under his belt, Torrieros seamless late
night sets are filled with throbbing percussion, sleazed out intensity and warm,
inviting house grooves. A true craftsman behind the decks, Torriero is capable of
venturing into vocal and progressive territory without losing any of the organic
magic of true house music.
Apart from having held down some of the most legendary residencies in the citys
history, Nicola is also synonymous with a host of otherworldly evenings at such
spots as Playground, Aria, Sona, Stereo, RedLite and Circus.
Apart from these magical evenings, Torrieros name is also synonymous with
Montreals legendary Bal En Blanc. Proudly accepting his position as the founding
father of this event, Torriero has since handed over the helm to other Montreal-
based movers n shakers who continue to make this event an annual must!
Feeling equally at ease in the studio as behind the decks, Torriero has managed to
create quite an impressive discography of original material over the years. Perhaps
most impressive are his spiritualized anthems created for Divers Cite. Having
been specifically requested to create the original music for the closing event of
Montreals Gay Pride week since 2002, Torriero continues to outdo himself with
each passing year. 2004s event showcased not only Torrieros epic production;
he also got the call to deliver the coveted closing DJ set. A sea of thousands strong
witnessed this magical open-air set.
In addition to these achievements, Torriero was also specifically chosen to provide
original material for the opening gala of the infamous Black & Blue event. This
yearly call to arms began in 1999 with Close Encounters. In 2001, Torriero
delivered Origines. The success of this project led to Torriero being called back
for 2002s event. Humanity was the soundtrack to that event, and once again,
this studio whiz raised the bar in an effortless fashion.
Nicolas first release with Joubin is an absolute late-night bomb! "Haunting" is a
twisted, epic tribal beast that was instantly snatched up by the infamous Magna
imprint. Fans of this dark charmer thus far include such heavyweights as Danny
Tenaglia, DJ Vibe, Chus & Ceballos, Victor Calderone, Tom Stephan, Junior
Vasquez, Peter Rauhofer, Hector Romero, Peter Bailey, Luca Ricci, That Kid
Chris, John Creamer & Stephane K, Carlos Fauvrelle, Pete Tha Zouk, and
Carlos Manaca who has already picked it up for an appearance on the forthcoming
mixed CD "Five Years of Magna"! Haunting has also been licensed for the 12th
Edition of Bal en Blanc / White Party "Red Lite Series 3" compilation.
Nicola & Joubin continues to solidify their Sound by launching @ the WMC 2006
another killer, Show u luv a remix for That Kid Chris on Tweekd Records which
has already been picked up for multiple compilations. Show u luv has come out
of the gates with huge buzz among the industrys best.
With such an extensive and impressive, ever-growing body of work, there is no
doubt as to Nicola Torrieros future. Today Montreal, tomorrow the global village!
