SARAH GILLESPIE

About Me

With a mother from the Mid West (USA) and a father from the South East (Peckham) Sarah grew up with an eclectic set of musical influences. At 9 she started writing songs on the piano, then at 15 started playing guitar.
Sarah's first gig came about when she was 18 in Madison Wisconsin happily snow-stranded at a Bob Dylan gig. She bumped into members of Dylan's support band, Over The Rhine who invited her to open sold out shows for them in Cincinnati and Chicago.
Back in London, Sarah starting gigging regularly at the Borderline, The Spitz, Bush Hall, the 12 Bar and South London's songwriter nest - the Easycome Acoustic Club.
Sarah is currently completing her debut album produced by international jazz artist Gilad Atzmon and recorded at London's Eastcote Studios. All original material, expect emotive ballads and raucous gypsy swing incorporating pre-rock elements of jazz, blues and vaudeville and peppered with flourishes of rap and electronica. With intelligent, witty and incisive lyrics and infectious melodies Sarah delivers her songs with a powerfully sensuous voice and some seriously deft finger-picking guitar.
