About Me

Myspace LayoutsAppalachian Songwriters Guild, Inc., a Boone, NC based non-profit organization was founded to raise funding and resources for promoting and supporting music education programs for the region's youth as well as local and regional songwriters and musicians.
The Guild is currently involved in two primary activities to support its stated goals, those being:
--Live Performance Series
--Music Recording and CD Production Projects
The Live Performance Series currently includes a monthly "Songwriters Night" performance at Cafe Portofino in Boone, NC where local songwriters and musicians have the opportunity to showcase their songwriting and their music. Three performances have been held to date, and attendance and participation within the local Boone community has been strong. Songwriters and musicians of all genre's, styles and ages are welcomed to perform, and shows to date have included artists and performers ranging from high school age to those in their 50s, from bluegrass and country to jazz, folk rock and hard rock.
The Music Recording and CD Production aspect of the Guild's operations has resulted in the production and release of a compilation CD comprised of the live performances by Watauga High School student musicians and songwriters. This CD is now available for purchase and net proceeds will be split 50/50 between Watauga High School (to supplement funding for their music education programs) and Appalachian Songwriters Guild (to provide funding for additional equipment and to support on-going operations). The Guild has also produced numerous high quality demo recordings for local songwriters and musicians so as to help support their aspirations in furthering their careers and will continue to provide this service to many more artists.
