The Rootsman is one of the leading figures to emerge from the ground-breaking UK dub and roots scene in the early 1990s. From his first releases in 1994 he has produced some of the most original and creative dub-based music from the UK. He has released 20 CDs to date, most on his own Third Eye Music label and as well as innumerable tracks on compilation albums released all over the world. Utilising samples and influences from across the globe as well as modern hip hop, jungle and electronic beats, his music continues to stand apart from the rest. Middle Eastern, Turkish and Arabian samples have been a common feature of his highly individual sound.
Rootsman has produced many big name reggae artists like Horace Andy, Sugar Minott, Michael Prophet, Earl 16, Johnny Clarke, Admiral Bailey, Jah Mason, Triston Palmer, Daddy Freddy, Ranking Joe and U Brown. His remixing skills have also been put to great use with works produced for Dub Syndicate, Dub War, Black Star Liner and heavyweight thrash metal giants Soulfly from Brazil.
Now celebrating an amazing 29 years as a musician and 22 years as a sound system selector, Rootsman continues to be an influence on a wide-ranging number of acts, including Eugene Hutz of gypsy punks Gogol Bordello who said of him "your music speaks so much to me and sounds ahead of its time."
As well as playing as a DJ all over the UK, Rootsman has also played in Mozambique, Ukraine, Palestine, Turkey, France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Poland, Portugal, Croatia, Estonia, Slovenia, Serbia, Austria, Netherlands, Switzerland, Finland, and Czech Republic.
