About Me

We live in the wealthiest country in the world, and yet every day hundreds of thousands of men, women and children go hungry out in the streets.
We as individuals cannot afford to solve this problem completely, but we can also not afford to ignore it either. A noise has to be made, and a movement has to be started to not only provide more help to these people, but we need to change the way we think about them as well.
This is not just about raising money, it's about raising awareness and changing the way people prioritize helping their fellow human beings.
It seems impossible to cure the homeless problem outright, and that shouldn't been seen as the focus of this group. Rather, the hope is to use the awesome power of Myspace to start a ripple, which with momentum can become a giant wave.
Movements of this nature are difficult to start, and even more difficult to maintain. People lose interest and they stop telling the story. We need to not relent; we need to not stop telling the story. Homelessness is a massive problem that cannot and will not go away over night. We need to be dedicated and hopeful that even on a minor level things can get better.
HOW TO HELP:
Donate food, clothing, blankets, toiletries and money to one of the programs endorsed on this page and in the group. I obviously encourage donating to any worthy homeless charity, however, the aim is to make a collective effort so that the changes made are visible and significant. Individual donations to various organizations make it hard to gauge results. When people do not concentrate their efforts it's hard to tell if there is a substantial impact.
Repost bulletins and blogs that support this effort.
Add a banner to your Myspace or regular webpage, and encourage other people to do so too.
Get people to add this page and to join the group, the more eyes, the more participants the more positive action that can come of all this.
A note about charities:
This page and the group WILL NOT accept money AT ALL. Nor will we accept any donation other than your help in promoting the cause. The charities selected to be showcased are legitimate non-profit organizations that have been picked not just for what they do, but because they don't use donations for operating costs. Every penny donated makes its way into helping the homeless. Very few charities do this.Thank you for your time and support!
