The Reach Around Rodeo Clowns

About Me

Lanark Records is a independent record label that concentrates on rockabilly, psychobilly, old school country, jump blues, rock & roll, and roots music. We do just about everything in house, from recording and mastering to manufacturing the final product. We put our focus on the music and do very limited packaging to keep our overhead down and our selling prices low.All of Lanarks products are sold on the internet and/or by mail order, which is another way to keep the selling prices of our discs down.Lanark Records was founded by Quentin Jones in 2000 when he left Llist Records, another label he co founded While Quentin was at Llist he signed and released projects from Robert Gordon, Tommy Conwell, The Reach Around Rodeo Clowns, and Mavericks guitar player Nick Kane.Lanarks first release cam in 2001 with Charlie Gracies Im All right. This outstanding 14 song disc was produced by Quentin and included guest artists Graham Nash and Tommy Conwell. The disc received glowing reviews and national radio play. Lanark will be following up Charlies release with a new mini album due to start production.Lanark Records is now a partnership between Quentin Jones and Steve Patton.***************************************************** **********The Reach Around Rodeo ClownsRemember when bands loved to play? When they would tour and put out albums of substance? When they didnt care about soda pop, car commercials, clothing lines or the branding of their name? Remember when a band was a band? The Reach Around Rodeo Clowns is a band. The band has already released two albums, and has toured endlessly off of them. The combination of the records and their touring has earned them tons of radio play as well as features in magazines like Hot Rod, CMJ Music Monthly and others. A Google search on the Internet turns up no less then twelve pages that reference the band and said pages are hosted in local cities like Lancaster, PA and as far away as Germany. Good music travels far.The band formed in 1996 in Lancaster, PA, thats right, Pennsylvania. Home of Herrs Potato Chips and Lebanon Bologna. Quentin and Wendell Jones started out as brothers and now they play guitar (Quentin) and sing (Wendell) for one of the best, screaming ass punk/rockabilly bands this side of the mighty Delaware River. The band is rounded out with Dave Ferrara on drums and Mike Vitale on Bass. Their first album, Whip it Out, was released in 1997 and gave the band instant credit within the Punk/Rockabilly underground. The CD is chock full of tunes that will have you pumping your fist one minute and doing your best Elvis impression the next. Whip it Out was followed up with 1999s Circuit Rider. Rider was produced by rockabilly legend and Stray Cat Lee Rocker. Rider demonstrated the bands growth as well as the chops they had secured while touring for Whip it Out. The new CD found them back on the road playing not only in their native PA, but also in Virginia, Kentucky, NJ, West Virginia and New York City. In NYC they have headlined at CBGBs as well as at the Continental, Brownies, Under Acme, and are featured regularly at the Rodeo Bar. The band has also been featured at the CMJ Music Marathon two years in a row. They were also featured on the CMJ Music Monthly CD sampler. The members of the Reach Around Rodeo Clowns have also work with many other artists. Quentin played guitar on Robert Gordons self titled Cd in the late nineties and from time to time plays live with him. He also produced Charlie Gracies 2001 Cd Im All Right and play guitar and bass on it, and from time to time plays guitar live with Charlie. He has done live shows for Hermans Hermits in the Past. Dave has play drums for such artists as Freddie Boom Boom Canon, Charlie Gracie, Nick Kane of The Mavericks, and is the drummer for Hermans Hermits. These guys dont look rockabilly? The Rodeo Clowns have been called psychobilly and rockabilly with a punk edge but they are a style on to themselves. They do not care about their clothing, haircuts, or what you call them, they just write music that they enjoy. Since they all have a background in rockabilly, punk and rock-n-roll, you will find elements of all these styles in their music.****************************************************** ********** Charlie GracieCharlie Gracie is one of a diminishing number of rock-n-roll innovators, who continues to actively perform. A native of South Philadelphia, he became the first successful recording star of the "Rock Era" to emerge from that neighborhood. In 1957, Charlie's 'Butterfly' topped the American and British music charts, selling over 3 million copies. His other late fifties big sellers include: 'Fabulous', 'Ninety-Nine Ways', 'Wanderin Eyes' and 'I Love You So Much It Hurts'. These hits bankrolled Philly's famous Cameo-Parkway record label, making it a dominant force in the music industry for nearly a decade! At the height of his fame, Charlie frequently appeared on 'Dick Clark's American Bandstand', 'The Ed Sullivan Show', and 'Alan Freed's TV Specials'. He headlined shows at the Brooklyn Paramount, the Casino Royale in Washington, The 500 Club in Atlantic City, and Old Connie Mack Stadium in Philadelphia. Charlie's star burned even brighter in Great Britain where he became the second American artist to bring rock-n-roll to the English concert stage. Preceded only by Bill Haley, Charlie headlined the London Palladium and Hippodrome receiving outstanding receptions from the press and public. To this day, Charlie Gracie, is a much loved and respected performer the length and breadth of the United Kingdom. While Charlie has earned a place in rock music history, this is only one dimension to a career that spans forty years. His versatility makes him the consummate music man! Today, Charlie enjoys a strong following at clubs and resorts along the northeast corridor of the U.S. Twice, annually, he performs to large audiences in countries such as: England, Italy, Germany, Austria, Finland, Spain and Holland. His superb guitar playing elicits the highest of praise from music legends like George Harrison. The ex-Beatle referred to Charlie's guitar work as 'brilliant' in a March 1996 interview with Billboard Magazine. Paul McCartney paid tribute to Charlie by Recording an updated version of 'Fabulous' in his new 1999 CD series entitled: "Run Devil Run". McCartney honored Charlie again that fall by inviting him to the album's premiere party in London. The year 2000 found Charlie on the road with Irish blues rocker, Van Morrison. Van, another Charlie Gracie admirer, commissioned him to open his shows at the Wiltern in Los Angeles and The House of Blues in Las Vegas. A short time later, Graham Nash of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young fame, declared that Charlie inspired him to a musical career. Nash then proceeded to contribute vocally on Charlie's latest CD release-his first of the new Millennium. It is obvious why Charlie Gracie has lasted the course longer than most. He is an accomplished musician and an exceptional talent - a devoted family man who conducts himself as a gentleman both on stage and off. He is a credit to his industry. *Charlie was voted into Great Britain's Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame (1998) founded by "Now Dig This" magazine.*************************************************** *************Quentin and the BarnstormersBuild a following , tour, release a CD, build a following , tour, release a CD, build a following , tour, release a CD, That's what Quentin and the Barnstormers do! Take Johnny Cash and put him together with the Ramones and you will get an idea of what Quentin and the Barnstormers sound like. This three-man band is headed by Quentin Jones on lead vocals and guitar, Rob Peterson on backing vocals and bass, and Tommy Leanza on backing vocals and drums. After nearly a decade of recording and touring with the critically acclaimed band the Reach Around Rodeo Clowns, and doing stints on guitar for such notables as Peter Noone and Herman's Hermits, Robert Gordon, and Charlie Gracie, plus working with many heavyweights in the music world, Quentin decided to form his own band. Quentin's focus will be on touring and recording with this new band and doing original music, as well as hot covers done in the Barnstormers unique style. Quentin's own songs have received rave reviews and exposure on radio and TV. Stray Cat, Lee Rocker on his 2006 Alligator records release "Race with the Devil", is covering Quentin's song "My Girl's from Hell" 2006 will see the release of the bands first album, tentatively titled, "Guitar, Drums, Bass and Vocals" which is all the instrumentation the CD will have, and reflects the grass roots style of the Barnstormers. The disc will be distributed and promoted worldwide by Lanark Records and Sunset Records Group. Quentin and the barnstormers have played all types of venues from Ball Parks to bars to music clubs, and have open for national acts, so no matter what type of show you need, the Barnstormers will deliver!Quentin and the Barnstormers will be the backing band for Charlie Gracies upcoming Lanark release as well as one of his touring backing band.
