About Me
Katie Rhoads 7/21/88 - 2/28/07
My daughter.
I'm a vegetarian, don't smoke, don't drink or do drugs and I love my kids, girlfriend and root beer floats pretty much in that order. I've played tennis for as long as I can remember, and was ranked 2 in PA (12 years old and under) when I was about 10 years old. I played on my high school tennis team and was ranked 1 on the team my junior and senior years. I was going to play tennis professionally until I started a band and decided to be a rockstar. Yea I know, what was I thinking...
Turn ons include watching public TV on saturday nights with aforementioned root beer float and girlfriend, vintage guitars, new drums and long walks at the flea market.
Turn offs, smoking, drugs, drinking, meat, little dogs, back pain, the fact that I rarely find dress hats to fit my huge head, bad pizza.
I'm currently playing drums with Screamin Daisys from Lancaster PA. I am also available for live fill-in work as well as studio work with any style band. I've done fill-in and studio work with bands that played rock, country, top 40, dance, funk, metal, punk, etc... Examples of my studio work are available on CD and my live work on DVD by request. Rates also available upon request. Also visit my You Tube page for videos. You Tube Here's a sample...
I play a USA made DW Collectors Series Maple set in Champagne (pink) Sparkle 22x18 kick, 16x14 floor, 10x9 tom, 12x9 tom and 14x10 tom, or a DW Collectors set in Broken Glass 22x18 kick, 16x16 floor and a 12x10 tom depending on my mood. I always use an original 1971 Ludwig 14 X 5 Supraphonic metal snare drum. The Supraphonic is the most recorded snare drum in history and can be heard on most rock and jazz recording in the 60's and 70's by artists such as Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Yes, The Who, James Brown, The Doors, Dave Brubeck and many, many more.
My bass drum has an internal Shure 52 mic and I have a set of Sennheiser E604's for all my toms and snares. I also use a Pearl Eliminator double or single bass pedal again depending on the situation.
I also have a 1971 Ludwig kit in Sky Blue Pearl sizes 22, 10, 12, 13, 16 for situtions that require a vintage look or sound. I've used this set on recording sessions with The Reach Around Rodeo Clowns among others, and on many live shows over the years including Robert Gordon, Charlie Gracie, The Reach Around Rodeo Clowns, etc... I also have a matching second bass drum which I've used in certain situations such as a Jimi Hendrix tribute band (Purple Haze) among others. Please visit my photo section to see live pictures of this set in single and double bass configuration.
I have a 13 piece Simmons electonic kit with an Alesis D5 brain as well as various Simmons brains that can be used for different situations. I also have a Roland SPD8 pad set for additional percussion and sound effects. I have also triggered my electronics with my acoustic drums in certain live and studio situations.
I've played on stage and/or recorded with bands/artists such as Robert Gordon, Charlie Gracie, The LA Rockers, Spike Irish (Los Angeles), Daddy C and the All Stars, The Dixie Pistols (Eclipse Records), Jet Silver, Bon Fuhrer, The Reach Around Rodeo Clowns (Llist Records), White Lies, The Eyes, Doc Rock and the Nuclear Dogs, Rudi Kazouti, Purple Haze (Jimi Hendrix Tribute), Bob Noble and Blue Voodoo, Quentin and the Barnstormers, Tickled Pink, Full House, plus many more I simply can't remember. When I lived in Los Angeles I had a chance to audition for the band "Air Supply" but at the time I thought I had too much integrity to play music like that. Instead I fueled planes at the Van Nuys airport and played with a couple bands that did absolutely nothing. Again, a genius decision!
Bands I've played with have opened for artists such as Jewel, The Goo Goo Dolls, Lee Rocker (bassist with The Stray Cats), Jim Lauderdale, The Toasters, Al Stewart, among many others that are even cheesier.
