It was many, many years ago during the later days of punk that a well-known local band known as Jack Lord's Hair was raising hell in the Central Pennsylvania area. With its Iggy-like frontmant leading four musicians (well the guitarists and drummer were considered that. The jury is still out on the bassplayer) through a series of well versed songs. As with any band during that time, it all crashed and burned though some members continued under the name with various incarnations. When the final JLH ember (or member) burned out, three former members, Eric, Rex and Rick got together one sunny evening to have a few beers, some laughs and to make some noise. The noise got to sounding good that evening. It took a natural surf tone with dueling guitars and rock solid back beat. In fact, so good that they thought "what the hell! We might as well form a band. And who needs a singer!". And so the band was christened The New Regency 5. They also thought their common names were, well, too common. They each took on a new name, Dot Dot Dash, The Enigma and Rex (it was too fitting to change). The three amigos continued to play and write while in search of a bassist. Their dreams were answered when a tall and weedy lad was left bandless. So the Regency boys adopted him and changed his name to 00Sven. Russ was too complicated to say and spell. And thus, the final seed was sown. The New Regency 5 were complete and set out to play their blend of surf, instrumental and Western to the world.
Sad to say that our beloved Enigma has moved onto other things BUT the three other members are carrying on. Well, it looks like Eric has now decided to leave to form an full contact weaving league. And, Russ is moving to Maine to be a snowflake counter. Rex has taken under his wing two new New Regency 5 lads. Dustin, who is into oil, grease and other hair care products and Bill, who just returned from touring with the Ephrata, PA River Dance troop. This should be quite exciting now really!
* You may be wondering "I only count 3 members, why The New Regency 5? Well, you see, our Regency lads were never good at math and a few are crossed-eye.
