All about Y'all is Fantasy Island
Y'all is Fantasy Island are a group from Falkirk, Central Scotland. They are specialists in most styles, mainly; melancholic acoustic folk, bombastic rock/pop and steamtrain thrash-blues grunge. In the past two years they have been honoured to have played alongside The Handsome Family, Radar Brothers, De Rosa, Frightend Rabbit, Thomas Truax, The Veils, Gasgiant and many other fine folks.
Y'all is Fantasy Island's debut album "In Faceless Towns Forever" was recorded in an abandoned house late in August of 2005 in a 19 hour session and is available now (see nice reviews below).
YIFI issue their 2nd LP "Rescue Weekend", in May 2008 and their third, "No Ceremony" in October of the same year (see music player above)
In 2007 Adam Stafford and former YIFI drummer Jon McCall's side project, Size Of Kansas issued their album"Digital is dead from the beginning". But it's probably not available now as only 10 were pressed.
PRAISE FOR "IN FACELESS TOWNS FOREVER":
"Falkirk's Y'all is Fantasy Island temper their knowing indie literacy with pretence-free presentation, their faded polaroid confessionals created from with bowed guitar and cold, sepulchral drone." - Plan B Magazine (Louis Pattison)
"Debut LP ..In Faceless Towns Forever' is a ragged and melancholic album that could be the soundtrack to a small-town Scottish indie movie. Beneath the delicately plucked acoustic guitars, smattered with echoing clarinet and percussion, lies the hiss of distortion continually threatening to emerge." - The Metro (Stuart Ross)
"A sombre collection of sparsely arranged melancholy... the atmospheric whole leaves goosebumps and settles the listener into staring blankly from the window for some time afterwards." 4/5 - The List Magazine (Mark Edmundson)
"YiFI create a poignant outsider soundscape, full of hurt and longing... Folk rock, country and Americana are all brought into the mix on this powerfully moving album." - Scottish Daily Record (Rick Fulton)
"Sparse yet evocative acoustic creations with percussion, clarinet and the occasional, arresting thrash of electric guitar. ‘In Faceless Towns Forever’ is a testament to the extraordinary creative possibilities afforded by a few friends getting together and putting their heart into the music, free from all the machinations and pretensions of the music industry." 4/5 - Skinny Magazine (Nick Mitchell)
"Think King Creosote after a night on the fags with John Martyn... despite the sombre feel, you can't fail to be uplifted by the sheer majesty of the songs here. With the trio somehow marrying Leonard Cohen with famous fellow Bairns Arab Strap, the town may not be faceless for much longer." 5/5 - Isthismusic? Magazine (Donald Bush)
