About Me

Hi Millions!!

I'm a singer/guitarist/songwriter from Schiedam, Holland, Europe.

Writing songs, and performing them now and then, I am very much interested in other independent musician's work.

I believe that because the rawness of songs by more-or-less amateur musicians, it is clearer to hear the song itself. Without the blur of a multi-million production, that is.

And in that perspective Myspace.com is a very interesting playground to look around.

My Interests

musical instruments, recording techniques (home recording) the internet, webdesign, graphic design (magazines, internet, advertisement)...

Sound and vision, in one, errr, three words.

I'd like to meet:

Allthough I'm very interested in HTML too, building sites for bands the past year, I'm mostly interested in songwriting. I know how I write a song, but how do YOU start, work and finish?

Are there any 'rules' to the game of songwriting, or is there only this one moment the adrenaline tells you: 'this is some line/lick/sequence to put in a song..?

And what do you do when a song is a dream to play, but a bore to listen to, or even worse: the other way around?

If you ever think about songwriting, I'd like to know more about you and your work.

Music:

Music that does something to me.

I re-discovered guitar- surf- sixties- and garagebands on Myspace. Man, is there some good music in this world!

Television:

Documentories, infotainment, news, music television, soccer, that '70 show, ehr... anything that MOVES on that damn tube..!

Books:

Vonnegut, De Winter, Fante, Sjowall & Wahloo, Toonder... or comics: I love the work of Hermann.

Heroes:

Friends helping out when you're having a bad time.

Songwriting Vl - Changes

Any given song has a raw version. The song is kinda finished, but there is still some work to do. There's always some work on the intro and the ending of the song. And that guitarsolo, is it stretched...

Songwriting V - The End

Everything comes to an end, besides worms and snakes, coming to an end twice...Even a song has an ending. Let's forget about the fade-out, a way to trick the disc jo...

Songwriting lll - Rip off

Cover's little sister is the rip-off. There are well known rip-offs: The Troggs's 'I want You', the flipside of their hit-single 'With a girl like you', is ripped off of 'Louie Louie', made famou...

Songwriting ll - Something in the air

Is it possible that a song writes itself? And I don't mean throwing dice. There are 12 notes in an octave, so with two dice you could try to get the chords and the tune of a song. Hmm. And don't ...

Songwriting l - Why bother???

There are (amongst others) two very good reasons to write a song. First: you have a band of musicians but no songs to play and you don't want to perform covers.Second: you have something to say. ...
