Ever wonder why the ratings for videos on the Internet are so screwed up? Like why there's so much garbage with 5-star ratings? We wondered that too. We even got kind of obsessed...

Turns out it means that the person who created it, rated it. So they gave it 5 stars. Even if it sucked. Then they asked their friends to do the same - because they're friends. But if everyone does that, how will any of us find the good stuff? It could take years! (6.5 years or so, but who’s counting?)

What we wanted - what the Internet needed - was a way to do ratings and recommendations that actually meant something. So we built it. It's called Crowd Rules. User Generated Voting. Business Results.

CrowdRules works by letting you team up with other people to find the best of something - like the best videos of your favorite band. While voting is going on, CrowdRules keeps everyone honest. When you’re done, there’s a ranked playlist for anyone to use.

Oh - and this is ironic - it turns out that what CrowdRules does is pretty much the same thing that movie studios, TV studios, record labels, and advertising agencies pay lots of money for. It's called audience testing, and it's a $1 billion service industry. Only we decided that everyone needs this, and that it needs to be free. Crowd power to the people.

So at CrowdRules, everyone gets to use the power of the crowd to find good stuff. You can use it for band battles, film festivals, acting auditions, job resumes, poetry slams, questions and answers, new product design opinions, predictions - anything you can think of. All for free. Really. Use it before we figure out that we should have charged for it. We can't wait to see what you do - just keep it clean, please. No one likes picking up after other people...;)

We're always tweaking it, and we'll listen to any suggestions you have. But we love using it. Now you get to use it too - and really make a difference.
