Icon IconBackgroungCurlee Brazell, is the former lead singer of the legendary, Omaha Ska band Jimmy Skaffa. After touring and performing with Skaffa for five years, he branched out and later started and playing guitar for The Hardline, a punk band inspired by Bad Brains and James Brown. In 95' he quit The Hardline and Jimmy Skaffa, and left Omaha for Chicago. The first two years in Chicago he worked on projects for a wide variety of artists. It was around 1998 when he started to put his efforts towards a new band, "The Nerd Core." The Nerd Core was short lived, lasting only 8 months without a single on stage performance. While working as a Liquor Tech at West Lakeview Liquors he met TJ and Jason of The Baldwin Brothers. It was only after several weeks of hanging out and drinking Chimay, that he joined TJ and Jason, on bass guitar. Wanting to branch out, and tired of working in a dependent state, he left the Baldwins after a year. He then started his own independent music label Sharkstyles. He is co-founder of Kryron Ensemble a Chicago-based electronic band, with members Christopher and Dan of Super Deluxe. He is the producer for Greater Than Most, a Chicago-based hip hop group which included Mad Peace, The Gratronaut, Anacron, Mondo Calrissian, Reality with turntables by Daze and Darktoof. His current project is The Water Babies, a mix of musical styles over hip hop, trip hop and downtempo beats. The production is mellow leaving room for the MC. Brazell is currently working on the first of four albums on the Sharkstyles label. Sharkstyles. Another example of an Indepent lable.
