Born in Kingston, Jamaica, I was always interested in the arts. From the time I was a small boy, in a Government yard in Trench Town, I would sit under a mango tree & write scripts & music on my laptop. I loved music & was the lead singer in a group till my parents decided to migrate to Brooklyn, NY. So I left the group & was replaced by a promising young singer named Bob Marley. Ghetto America was a rude, intimidating place for a 7 year old Jamaican boy. Those kids would kick my ass on the way to a fight & then steal my freaking Ipod. With 6 sisters & no brothers to protect me, all I had to rely on was; my sense of humor, my charm & penis size, to make friends & impress people. With Reggae not yet big in the U.S. I started just talking the lyrics to songs, this guy named Russell called me a good rapper & wanted me to start a Record Label with him. When he named it DEF JAM, I knew this A- hole wasn't serious, so I came West on a B Ball scholarship to study film & screenwriting & screw. After college I tried out for the pros but I got cut because the league wasn't ready for outspoken, intelligent black men. Screw the WNBA, that league has a long way to go toward equality.
I started acting professionally & acquired an extensive acting resume w/ over 25 TV & film credits including guest starring on JAG, FBI, E.R. MaddTV, Jake & The Fatman, Bold & Beautiful, Batman & Robin, Species to name a few. In addition to writing 7 screenplays, several of which have been optioned, then ignored as they lied to my face. I became the writer & artist of the acclaimed One-Man show "The World is my Home - The Life & Times of Paul Robeson" I've performed over 100 shows on the college circuit & the show is one of the most popular shows on the American College scene.
I've performed stand up comedy all over the country in clubs, colleges & USO Tours in Tokyo, Japan & Okinawa. My comedy is witty, sarcastic & playful, not what you would expect from someone this sexy. On the Dec. 28th 1989 I made the life changing decision to take the Shahada. It has enhanced & enriched my life beyond measure. The Heart of my life is my beloved son Kahaari Shakoor & my beautiful princess; daughter Tunisia Aminah. They are exceptionally bright & lovable kids, they missed talking to each other so much when they started school, they put their heads together & invented "Text Messaging". Amazing, I know.
P.S. The Blackberry was my idea.
