About Me

Chris Sellman is a Baltimore native who has been playing music his whole life, first as a trombonist, but later dedicating his life to the bass. During high school, Chris met David Barber (Barber Electronics). David opened the doors to many new progressive forms of music; particularly jazz/fusion. At this point, Chris had the opportunity to join the Peabody Preparatory School Jazz Ensemble with David. Chris was very fortunate to have met Lawrence Hoffman (legendary Dennis Sandole disciple) during this period. Lawrence Hoffman was the instructor of the jazz ensemble. The education and influence gained from Hoffman was invaluable. As a professional bassist, Chris began to freelance as performer different bands/projects within the region. Chris has toured / performed and recorded with The Reggie Wayne Morris Blues Group , Blues Unchained , Blues Therapy , Sonia / Disappear Fear with Grammy Award winning producer, Roy Bittan (Bruce Springsteen, Meatloaf, etc. . . . ) and guitarist Doug Pettibone (Lucinda Williams), and made a live DVD with the Skyla Burrell Blues Band . Recently he has had the pleasure to be called upon to perform some events with the dynamic Johnny Neel (Allman Brothers). Though Chris loves music rooted in blues & jazz, he enjoys the challenge and versatility needed to work with various artists in various genres. Chris will always strive to compliment the music and satisfy the vision of the artists he works with. Chris' absolute dedication to music and to striving for improvement has been constant throughout his lifetime.

Guitarists, do yourself a favor, check out their hand-crafted pedals. Bassists, please be patient. In particular, low gain overdrive players (Blues, country, jazz, funk and beyond), check out the LTD pedal. When you get a chance, check out the LTD Shuffle under the sound bites. The bass used on the recording was the studios Fender American Standard Jazz V Bass with an ash body, Pau Ferro fret board, & fresh DR Hi-Beams Strings .

A very special thank you to my beautiful & brilliant girlfriend, Katja. Her emotional support, understanding and knowledge of fashion cannot be put in words. She makes this tough business much easier. I am so fortunate :)
