It was evident at an early age that Matthew was keen on drums. Before he could even play he would watch Fred Hammond (Pages of Life) and listen to Marvin McQuitty playing the drums who has now turned into Matthew's favourite drummer! Matthew says "I remember watching Marvin on videos and just trying to grasp what he was doing and the musicality of it all.He was my favourite drummer before i could play!" In 2002 a dream of Matthew's came true and that was to meet Marvin McQuitty, who since then has become a mentor in Matthews life.
Whenever Matthew went somewhere where drums were (mostly Churches) he would just sit and stare until it was time to go. He would always be tapping on his hands and knees, tables and anything else he could get his hands on.
Matthew first got his chance to get behind a drum kit and "play" around the age of 11. The church finally got a drum kit! This was truly a prayer answered. Whenever he would get the chance (after services) Matthew would go and try and play, and after a few months he found a beat (that God imparted) when he was banging around and the rest is history. After taking drumming seriously now for about 5 years God is opening doors for Matthew and is doing new and exciting things in His Life!
Now Matthew is looking for UK Gospel artists to work with (both recording and live work) and is in the process of forming a production company along with his brother (Adam Brooks) called BBMuisck (Brooks Brothers Musick - check out our Myspace page) so look out for them!
I would like 2 meet people from the UK who are trying 2 make it in the Gospel Industry! Especially if you need a drummer lol! For real tho, if you're from the Midlands and you're looking for a saved and santified drummer, hit me up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
