Tehillah III

Tehillah is one of the Hebrew words, which describes praise. It means to praise enthusiastically, to praise extravagantly and to make psalm praise. Psalm 100 v 4.The group consists of three sisters Gemma (20), Kaydene (18) and Chevone (16) Stewart from Hitchin, Herts. Their talent was evident from an early age but it was in 1997 that they formally began their music ministry and wrote their first song Lord We Stand in Your Presence. This trend of writing their own material has continued and their repertoire consists of many genres. Their music is mix of Praise and worship, Jazz and Rn'B. They have recorded and launched their debut EP, 'Extravagant Praise.The Ep is Titled "Extravagant Praise". It consists of songs which were written collectively within the group. Trust in the lord, Hold on, Redeemer and Praise the Lord. Most of the songs on the EP are biblically based, where they used certain scriptures, which have inspired them to write the song. For example, Trust in the lord, it is mainly taken from Proverbs 3 vs 5 and Psalms 91. Praise the lord was another inspired songGemma: A couple of years ago I was studying A level music, and as part of my coursework I had to compose a song, I was having a really bad mental block and really couldn't write anything. So my music teacher gave me the idea of using a psalm from the bible- I went to get a bible and opened it up and Psalm 148 was there, and it was as if the words became alive- so straight away I knew this was my piece. I got the chord progression, and melody come shortly after- I just knew this song was straight from God! ( I got an A for it tooPraise God)In 2003, they reached the finals of the GMTV/Voice Gospel Challenge after winning the South West finals. This was a great experience for the group and was very much enjoyed by them.They acknowledge their musical gift as coming from God and have dedicated themselves to perfecting this gift. They see the group as an outreach to the youth, and through their music they will spread God's word and affect people's lives.
