This page is dedicated to the old TEARS OF A DOLL, meaning T.O.D. from Oct. 1988 to Spring 1992 when we split up on stage at Printemps de Bourges (Festival "off"). Unlike the second TEAR OF A DOLL (without S), the first one had a male vocalist and two guitarists.
The first T.O.D. was formed by 3 ex-HEIMAT-LOS members (Norbert, François L, Sergio) + a new bassplayer (François T) + a second guitarist (Nydeu, ex-KROMOZOM 4).
This why TEARS OF A DOLL recorded several songs left over unrecorded by HEIMAT-LOS. We give you one of them here: "White Dawn" (an anti-KKK song). Another one, "Herbert West" was included as bonus track on Heimat-los 2xCD. You also have the 50/50 type: "Fake Attempt" (music by Heimatlos, lyrics by Tears of a Doll). We changed our name because we lost an important member (the bassist) but we kept working on the same material.
"the Draft", featured above, is arguably the first emo song from France (although the term emo did not existed yet at that time and we found it a bit ridiculous the first time we've heard it).
T.O.D. played with bands such as NoMeansNo, Victims Family, DI, GI Love, Snuff, Cosmic Wurst, Treponem Pal, Krull, Noise Carvers, etc.
"On n'triche pas avec le Rock'n'Roll" is a cute quotation by Nydeu (Denis), the French Johnny Thunders.
