| View Show | Create Your OwnSomesay is a Singer/Songwriters duo of brother and sister Rad and Narda. They started making music the minute Rad bought his first guitar at the age of 16. One afternoon he was sitting in his bedroom writing a new song when Narda, his 4 year younger sister, walked into the room and started singing backing vocals on the chorus. Somesay was born! It felt natural from day one for them to sing together so they decided to try to write some more tracks and see if there was any opportunity for them to perform somewhere. That year, Nardas high school organized an evening where students could perform own compositions in front of an audience. They did the audition and passed. This would be their first live performance and a good way to see how other people would react to their music. On the evening itself they did well and the audience was really positive. The two had finished writing some tracks when Rads guitar teacher told him to contact local producer and close friend Jake to see if he was interested in producing some of the tracks. Rad made an appointment with Jake to play him some material. He really liked it and decided to record a few tracks at his studio. The result was a demo with 3 full produced tracks and from then on it all went pretty fast.
The period that followed Somesay got in touch with different record companies and were offered a few record deals but both still at high school decided to first get their degrees. They kind of went their separate ways from there feeling the time wasn’t right yet. Both kept on writing new material. Rad finished an international college for Audio Engineering and started building his own studio and set up Roseville Productions with Ruben and Boris. Narda finished high school and started studying psychology at university but still felt the need to be an artist. The time had come to sit down together and talk about writing new material. Somesay decided to create an own deep and jazzy pop sound. A more matured version of the sound they created years ago.
In February 2006 Somesay released their debut album 'One of a Kind'. All tracks of the album were recorded and produced at the Roseville Productions Studios by Rad. Somesay singed a non-exclusive digital distribution deal with American company ‘CD Baby’. ‘One of a Kind’ is now available on the biggest legal download sites including ‘Itunes’
In August 2006 Somesay signed a 3-year publishing deal with Holland’s biggest independent publisher ‘Strengholt Music Group’.
In October 2006 after a huge hype on Dutch community website www.hyves.nl the duo was spotted by a Major Record Company. Via them Somesay was support act for various international artists such as: Sean Lennon in the Melkweg Amsterdam, Silkstone in the Patronaat en a Balladeer in Atlantis Alkmaar. In December Somesay was guest in Tros Muziekcafe, a live music show on Dutch National Radio 2 with over 300.000 listeners.
