About Me

Alternative rock that is accessible, melodic pop with an edge; it’s not that easy to typify the music of Simon. Simon’s aim is to entertain but also to address thoughts and feelings that go deeper than those expressed in your average contemporary pop song. It has taken him some time but his debut mini-album " Simon" shows that he has perfected his craft, found his true voice and the musicians who understand and are able to express his emotions. Simon (1981) was born and raised in Solingen, Germany, but has been living and working in Amsterdam for the last few years, where he studied vocals and composing at the rock department of the Conservatory. There has never been a doubt in his mind on which path to follow; any route that leads him to a future in music. Even as a small boy Simon showed his love for sounds and songs. Raised on a diet of jazz he took to the piano at an early age but before long he switched to guitar. He discovered he could sing during camping trips where he would perform around the campfire. A first love gone bad gave him the material for his songs, unrequited love still is a recurring theme in his work. Although he knows his way ..boards, bass and guitar Simon is first and foremost a singer, and a songwriter. And a very good one as you can tell from the five songs on his debut. Still these recordings are just a first step in what will prove to be a long and fruitful career. About ’ Simon’: The songs were produced by Mouse with the help of engineer Tom Gerlissen. Apart from leading the successful Dutch 90’s band Tuesday’s Child, Mouse made a name for himself as producer of a.o. Gruppo Sportivo and Keith Caputo. The mini-album was mastered by Attie Bauw, who worked with Racoon, The Gathering, Simple Minds, Judas Priest and a host of others. The musicians on the tracks also accompany Simon on the road: Chris Kikic and Daniel Raposo on guitar, Len van de Laak ..s, Tim Barning on bass and Ben Bakker on drums. ?
