About Me

Pete Devlin, a native born in Yellowknife(NWT), but raised in Owen Sound Ontario, this is my story:At the age of 4 I knew I wanted to play music, my parents had a really good record selection full of Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Santana, and alot of Blues. At 5 I started piano lessons, then drums at 12. My true calling was guitar. Starting guitar at 14 I took a few lessons but then taught myself putting guitar before most things. During the summers I worked as an extra on Degrassi Jr High and Degrassi High and got my first guitar with Degrassi money(at grade nine), nothing would ever be the same. At 17 I helped form Blue Dog Pict with Keram Malicki-Sanchez and recorded two albums with the band "the Picture Album" and "Anxiety of Influence". Blue Dog Pict played most of the Toronto scene by the time we were in our late teens. In the early 90s Blue Dog Pict got a song on the TV-movie "Degrassi School's Out". After three years with Blue Dog Pict and a year at Humber College, I dropped out then hitch-hiked to BC and jammed at the Yale every Sunday in Vancouver for about 10 months, playing constantly. Back to Owen Sound to form Juice, a trio of Dave M(aka Solomon)on bass and Jevon Austin on drums where we played at the Crossroads for a year and a half every Sunday. Juice went on to play gigs openning up for Wide Mouth Mason, the Headstones and some shows for the MP of Grey Bruce. After a few years Juice took a break. Juice still in hiyatis I then hooked up with Joel Morelli and Rob Elder with Morelli on bass and vocals and Edler on drums and vocals. Back and forth from Toronto to Owen Sound I also joined accoustic duo "Blue Orange" evenually forming into a 6 piece band playing in the Toronto area. Blue Orange is still in existance playing gigs in the GTA and running a recording studio called Grey Fruit. I quit a factory job then hosted an open jam at Jazzmyns Tapas and Taps in Owen Sound for two years. Also playing with singer/songwriter Brian Moniz and an accoustic group Farmer, Devlin, and Reese, (then Morelli came along). I was playing guitar for alot of people, and recording some demos for people, but mostly gigging with Joel Morelli and Rob Elder. After a few years of gigs under names such as Heavy Boxes, Play, and Replay we settled on "The Hungry Life" and have been playing gigs for the past five years in the Owen Sound area and expanding to Barrie and Toronto. 2 years ago we won the Last Chance Saloon and got a spot at Summerfolk 2006. Just this past Summerfolk I went as a spectator but at the end of the weekend I was book for next years festival by the artistic director as the Pete Devlin Band. Located in Barrie now, I'm open for new projects or collaborations and currently recording a new album that should be finished this spring.
