About Me

The Sleepers came from Palo Alto, a quiet college town south of San Francisco. Their first gig was at the Mabuhay, Christmas night 1977. The Sleepers sound was primarily a blend of Ricky Williams' vocals (Crime's original drummer) and the neo-psychedelic melodies that echoed from the guitar of Michael Belfer. Ricky William's demented lyrics (he walked out of an institution shortly before he began to play drums for Crime) were delivered in an emotionally convincing, sometimes deep, sometimes soaring, sometimes insane voice that accompanied you home from the club along with your buzzing ears. Drug culture played no small part in the Sleepers sonorous sound. Ricky did sing for Flipper for a short period in 1979! Flipper is known to be a huge influence for Nirvana!
