... Teenage Head "Top Down"
TObeSCENE was founded in 2004 by independent Toronto filmmakers Aldo Erdic and Nick Cushing. TObeSCENE continues to be a showcase of their quirky short films and has now evolved to become an alternative outlet documenting Toronto's subculture through its internet only "TV show". With exclusive interviews and live footage, TObeSCENE TV showcases artists, performers and the most unique, provocative and energetic punk and indie bands that the mainstream media has ignored or isn't aware of.
........................... THE DIODES Reunion 2007............................
ToBeScene recently documented the return of Toronto's punk/new wave pioneers, The Diodes . Live, rehearsal, archival and interview footage will be incorporated into a short documentary directed by Aldo Erdic on the band and their important contribution to the original Toronto punk scene 30 years ago. ToBeScene will also be contributing live footage from bands like Teenage Head, Viletones and The Mods for the upcoming documentary The Last Pogo Jumps Again directed by Colin Brunton (Roadkill, Highway 69, Hedwig).
We're a fully equipped video production company, so in addition to promoting and documenting the local music scene, we offer independent bands and labels affordable state of the art, multicamera, high-defintion video recording and production services. Whether it's recording your show with one, two or three cameras, authoring a DVD, creating an Electronic Press Kit or producing a broadcast quality music video, we can do it without busting your bank account....and without corporate attitude.
As well as current band interviews, live performances and TObeSCENE-produced promo music videos , our site has a video archive section dating back to the late 1990s that features live footage of bands like Nashville Pussy, Anti-Flag, El Vez, D.O.A.s Joe Keithly, etc., with more being added each month. A lot of these are taken from the F*U*TV videozine that Aldo put out in 1997 and 1998.
In addition to the TObeSCENE TV show, our current film projects include:
"The Shirkers Paradise", a short comedy about the takeover of the Toronto Islands by neo-communists who soon become tempted by the Islands bourgeoisie decadence.
"It Came From Canada", a full feature documentary, in collaboration with journalist Daibhid James, on Montreal's Og Records, Canada's first independent label from the 1980s that had a national scope and included bands such as Deja Voodoo , The Gruesomes, and Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet.
"Fallen From Graceland" , a full feature musical comedy, telling the story of how years after cloning a young Elvis, alien geneticists are forced to return to Earth to locate the original model when the clone becomes seriously ill.
And don't forget to visit the pages we set up for our friend Angelo . He's a karaoke singing sensation inspired by Elvis and Jesus who also writes and sings his own songs. Fans of outsider music just have to check out Angelo's site and some of the off-the-wall videos we've created for him.
