Wherever you stand be the soul of that place . . . Rumi

About Me

"There can be no happiness, if the things we believe in are different from the things we do."
- Freya Stark
"The Journeys Echo"

Once. . . I heard a bird,
an absorbed ecstatic bird
eloquently telling
it's child:
"Fly high:
soar high:
a few bread crumbs
will suffice you,
but the sky
you need . . .
the whole sky."
-Sa'id 'Aql
"Quintrain"
I am a self starter interested in pursuing things I am passionate about . . . a deep thinker looking to expand myself from the inside out . . . love writing before the sun rises . . . grateful for my loving family, dear friends, my incredible publisher, fellow authors and spiritual teachers.
I have always loved the mystery of linking the inner world with the outer and look for ways to throw paint on the invisible. For me, writing is a listening process, an unplanned certainty where pen point intersects the page and conversation begins.
Performance and participation include editorial assistant to the 2007 Capitol Bookfest Anthology: Family Pictures, Martha's Vineyard-Bunches of Grapes Bookstore filmed with CEO Shana Yarborough and aired by Public Television, Visionary Art Museum: Rumi Festival featured guest Coleman Barks, Caribbean Literary Festival in Antigua 2006: co-sponsored by Writers Lair, The Science of Love: Intersection of Intellect and Desire/ Beltway Poetry Journal, Urbancode Magazine, Poetry at Gallery G: Collaborative monthly workshop with featured visual artist, Breathe Books: Meditative Writing Workshops, Baltimore City Community College: Youth Writing Workshop, University of Maryland/Baltimore: Publishing Workshop/Panel and Co-editor/facilitator for Writing Workshop/Book: "Into Our Clothes" for Goucher University.
I believe the creative voice so vital to maintaining internal wholeness, begins inside the individual and should be encouraged to expand both out into our local communities and greater global family. Fostering this creative expression through mentoring youth is of great interest to me. Performance and collaboration with other performing artists is a passion and a focal point as well as support of causes and projects that ambassador good will.
