About Me

The Dry County Crooks are an outlaw country/rock outfit from Portland, Oregon with punk roots and a blue-collar message that has become trademark. DCC influences include but are not limited to Johnny Cash, Social Distortion, The Supersuckers, Willie Nelson, The Cramps, The Misfits, Don Williams, The Pogues and Bad Religion. Since 2001 they've put over 300 shows under their belts going up and down the western states, playing with some of the best bands around and building a loyal following. They've played 3 spots in MusicfestNW, have hours of live material and can pull covers from Hank I to Hank III..In 2003 The Dry County Crooks self-released "The One That Got Away" on Blue Collar Heart Music and followed in 2005 with "Wrong Side Of The Tracks". Between the albums they've received radio play reaching across The United States and Europe, with local play on KNRK, KUFO, KCMD, KUPL, KBOO, & KPSU. The Rick Emerson Show named "Average Man" the best song of 2003, "The True Vine" and "Light's Just Right" were co-named the 14th best songs of the year by KBOO's 'Best of 2005' list, and "Family, Faith & Love" placed 6th out of over 800 in Chain Whipped Magazines' 2005 unsigned band contest. The CD's have sold consistantly on-line and in local record stores as well as singles on iTunes and other downloads. The Third album is speculated for late-summer 2007.The Dry County Crooks have appeared in ads for Pabst Blue Ribbon, have been heard in movies and seen on T.V.. They recorded a version of Social Distortions' "Don't Take Me For Granted" for the DVD "Bigger than Jesus: The Diary of a Rock & Roll Fan", and the film "Two Fisted" used both "I'd Do Hard Time" and "Wrong Side of the Tracks". Portland Fox affiliate PDX-49 has run features on the band and the "Wrong Side of the Tracks" CD release party had an extended play on local cable access channels for 2 Months.Vinny D is the founder, songwriter and visionary of the group, singing lead vocals, playing accoustic guitar and the occasional sax. Pulling from the songbook of the working class, he delivers a heartfelt message of faith, love, struggle and strife.Paul Becker is the quintessential rock and roll electric guitar guy from Detroit, Michigan that puts the "alt" in "alt-country" by installing the distortion and stuff into the mix.Cheo Larcombe is the drummer that attended The Musicians Institute of Technology in Hollywood, is always in a good mood, and currently teaches at The Paul Green School of Rock. Johnny B is the man on bass and backing vocals who is a former Sony/Epic recording artist with a long Portland band history that includes touring with legendary guitarist Earl Slick... -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- CDBABY LINK for THE DRY COUNTY CROOKS: The One That Got Away -- -- --
