Hot on the heels of their immensely enjoyable cd release party at Molly Malone's in Los Angeles, Old Bull's brand new album, "Manifesto" has been picked up by Big Bender records and is slated for release July 31st 2007. The new record was produced by Steve McCormick and Old Bull and will be distributed by Hapi Skratch Entertainment.
Old Bull is like a deep drink of Kentucky Bourbon followed by a long hit of homegrown. Up in the hollers and hills surrounding Los Angeles lies a refuge called Topanga, where you forget you are within spitting distance of the city. Some of the old spirit resides here yet, carefully tended by the old timers who have not yet succumbed to time. A new and undeniable creative force is marinatin' in this place, and folks around here call it Old Bull. The Bull has roots in Punk, Alternative, Rock, Folk Bluegrass and blues....It's "Southern California Slamgrass". The way we deliver our music is honest, raw and un-pretentious. Like White Lightnin' on a disc, the new album, "Manifesto" delivers the goods and them some for those who crave a powerful and assertive new country sound emboldened by our heartfelt convictions.

Singer and harmonica player Eric Rasmussen fronts the band and writes most of the songs. Country drummer and hillbilly singer "Whiskey" Pete Sheffer, a recent import from Alaska by way of Alabama, holds down the beat. Our banjo and rhythm guitar mastermind and resident Red Wings fan is Dylan Wilkerson, also an activist and Sundance Film Festival actor in Travis Wilkerson's "Who Killed Cock Robin?". Scott "The Wizard" Grusin, son of jazz great Dave Grusin, provides the blistering leads and lap steel licks that all but define the Old Bull sound. The newest and member of the Bull is Steve Seifert, a comforting and enthused presence who we don't know what we ever did without....

Not content to merely play a seemingly endless run of kickass live shows, Old Bull keeps on recordin' their tunes for the world to hear. Their debut full length, "Manifesto" is a treat for the ear which defines their "Slamgrass" sound....pick one up now directly from us or from Big Bender records! www.oldbull.net .

(Sept. 9, 2007) KRFC-FM says: OLD BULL/ MANIFESTO/ BIG BENDER RECORDS - Alt country from Los Angeles with roots in the hollers of Appalachia. Many of the songs have political messages from growing medicinal pot to corporate control of farming. Fiddle. Highly recommended.

A word of explanation about the new album's dedication page:

The new album, "Manifesto" is dedicated to Drew Goren, dear friend and loving father, who passed away in late 2006 after a 2 year battle with cancer. He is survived by daughter Nina and partner Julia. Nina is also the inspiration for the song "Lullabye." There is a memorial page at inmemoryofdrewgoren.blogspot.com if you would like to learn more. You can also contribute to the Drew Goren Memorial Fund which benefits Nina and Julia. Drew was a gifted photographer in addition to being a great friend. He mostly did protraits, mainly of musicians. You can see his work at www.subwaysleeper.com.

This tree image was used to make T-shirts which were sold at the recent Benefit show in Brooklyn, NY where Julia and Nina live. The tree is a creation of Carrie Randolph, who is also responsible for the "Manifesto" album cover. You can see more of this talented and lovely young lady's work at myspace.com/carrieandherknife
