About Me

The Nashville Gamblers are the most universal and complete country entertainment unit touring the USA and Canada today. No other group can boast a programm of such talented stars that the entire folk gamut from good old foot stompin' bluegrass to heart rending cowboy ballads.Country and Wéstern Music as we know it today, evolved from the late 17th century English, Welsh and Scottish ballads that were later changed on the American frontiers. The immigrants from the Old World developed this music as they pushed inland from the east coast of America on their immigration westward trough the Appalachian mountains. Eventually, in the span of 100 years. the influence of negro spirituals flavored some of the work songs, ballads and railroad songs to develop into country blues. In the 1850's, as wagon trains moved westward over the mountains, the great prairies opened up as endless grazing lands for herds of cattle. The lonly expanses were the home of the American cowboy. A certain melancholy pervades most of the cowboy ballads such as "Bury me not on the lone prairie" and "Home on the range".
