MaryAnne Paquin

A good day to write music. Coffee don't fail me.

About Me

Bright Idea: Click the STANDALONE button on the music player to listen to music and surf on...
Above: MaryAnne as Nellie in singing "Honey Bun" in the musical South Pacific.
Below: This is my sister after a September Red Sox vs. Yankees game. You have no idea how embarassed she is over the fact I live in New York and I am the only family member she has that is an admitted Yankees' fan. Truth be told the stupid Sox broke my heart when I was a kid and it took years of recovery to finally cut the losses and move on to routing for a better team. Routing for the Sox is like being in an abusive relationship. Hey, I know the game, and at one point in my life was my high school softball pitcher. Soon after, I was forced to choose between being a start of sports or a star of music and musical theater performing. Naturally, we all know what I chose!
Want to make me happy? Go do me the favor and go to my sister's myspace page and give her some shit for being mean to me. ;) Any of the cool kids reading this who hate the Sox, by all means feel free to go to her page befriend her and piss her off by leaving a mean message about the Sox! Her feathers get easily ruffled, believe me! Let the games begin!!!!

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: mimpaquin.com
Band Members: MaryAnne Paquin me, myself and I

vocals, all instruments and all of the the songs heard here were written, recorded, engineered, produced by Mim aka MaryAnne.
Yeah, the credits here read kinda like a Mel Brooks' film.
Influences: Life experiences, books and papers I read, movies and art I see, people I meet, and the musical sounds of the world around me. My Granny Eileen, my family and friends.
The following is a shortened list of influences of folks that every time I heard their music I was inspired in some way to write, sing, or play: Stevie Wonder, Michael McDonald, Lauryn Hill, R.E.M., Harry Connick, Jr., Beck, U2, Juanes, John Mayer, Radiohead, Alana Davis, ColdPlay, Geddy Lee, Thelonious Monk, John Williams, Dvorak, Smetana, Judy Garland, Michael Jackson, Gladys Knight, Frank Sinatra, Quincy Jones and The Beatles (of course).
And there are many friends’ music whom I’ve gravitated towards over the years and never get tired listening to: Javier, The Bomb Squad, Paul Wenzel, Ed Ryan, misc. Al Domingo, or HiZed projects.
I've done a lot of late-night soul-searching, meandering through Manhattan and failing miserably at finding the meaning of it all. Lastly, is it wrong to say a house influenced me? I say that only because 48 Orange Street, is the only house in my life that has been a constant. The house has history in it- good and bad... but always hope filled. -Always hopeful.
Sounds Like: chocolate filled vanilla cream cakes
