1 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?
Psalms 42:1-2
9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Thy word.
10 With all my heart I have sought Thee; Do not let me wander from Thy commandments.
11 Thy word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against Thee.
12 Blessed art Thou, O LORD; Teach me Thy statutes.
13 With my lips I have told of All the ordinances of Thy mouth.
14 I have rejoiced in the way of Thy testimonies, As much as in all riches.
15 I will meditate on Thy precepts, And regard Thy ways.
16 I shall delight in Thy statutes; I shall not forget Thy word.
Psalms 119:9-16
1 O Lord, I call upon Thee; hasten to me! Give ear to my voice when I call to Thee!
2 May my prayer be counted as incense before Thee; The lifting up of my hands as the evening offering.
3 Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.
4 Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice deeds of wickedness With men who do iniquity; And do not let me eat of their delicacies.
5 Let the righteous smite me in kindness and reprove me; It is oil upon the head; Do not let my head refuse it, For still my prayer is against their wicked deeds.
6 Their judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock,And they hear my words, for they are pleasant.
7 As when one plows and breaks open the earth, Our bones have been scattered at the mouth of Sheol.
8 For my eyes are toward Thee, O GOD, the Lord; In Thee I take refuge; do not leave me defenseless.
9 Keep me from the jaws of the trap which they have set for me, And from the snares of those who do iniquity.
10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, While I pass by safely.
Psalms 141:1-10
6 "Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel And his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: 'I am the first and I am the last, And there is no God besides Me.
7 'And who is like Me? Let him proclaim and declare it; Yes, let him recount it to Me in order, From the time that I established the ancient nation. And let them declare to them the things that are coming And the events that are going to take place.
8 'Do not tremble and do not be afraid; Have I not long since announced it to you and declared it? And you are My witnesses. Is there any God besides Me, Or is there any other Rock? I know of none.'"
The Folly of Idolatry
9 Those who fashion a graven image are all of them futile, and their precious things are of no profit; even their own witnesses fail to see or know, so that they will be put to shame.
10 Who has fashioned a god or cast an idol to no profit?
11 Behold, all his companions will be put to shame, for the craftsmen themselves are mere men. Let them all assemble themselves, let them stand up, let them tremble, let them together be put to shame.
12 The man shapes iron into a cutting tool, and does his work over the coals, fashioning it with hammers, and working it with his strong arm. He also gets hungry and his strength fails; he drinks no water and becomes weary.
13 Another shapes wood, he extends a measuring line; he outlines it with red chalk. He works it with planes, and outlines it with a compass, and makes it like the form of a man, like the beauty of man, so that it may sit in a house.
14 Surely he cuts cedars for himself, and takes a cypress or an oak, and raises it for himself among the trees of the forest. He plants a fir, and the rain makes it grow.
15 Then it becomes something for a man to burn, so he takes one of them and warms himself; he also makes a fire to bake bread. He also makes a god and worships it; he makes it a graven image, and falls down before it.
16 Half of it he burns in the fire; over this half he eats meat as he roasts a roast, and is satisfied. He also warms himself and says, "Aha! I am warm, I have seen the fire."
17 But the rest of it he makes into a god, his graven image. He falls down before it and worships; he also prays to it and says, "Deliver me, for thou art my god."
18 They do not know, nor do they understand, for He has smeared over their eyes so that they cannot see and their hearts so that they cannot comprehend.
19 And no one recalls, nor is there knowledge or understanding to say, "I have burned half of it in the fire, and also have baked bread over its coals. I roast meat and eat it. Then I make the rest of it into an abomination, I fall down before a block of wood!"
20 He feeds on ashes; a deceived heart has turned him aside. And he cannot deliver himself, nor say, "Is there not a lie in my right hand?"
Isaiah 44:6-20
1 Why do the nations rage,And the peoples meditate a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves,And the rulers take counsel together,Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us break their bonds asunder, And cast away their cords from us.
4 He that sitteth in the heavens will laugh: The Lord will have them in derision.
5 Then will he speak unto them in his wrath,And vex them in his sore displeasure:
6 Yet I have set my king Upon my holy hill of Zion.
7 I will tell of the decree: Jehovah said unto me, Thou art my son; This day have I begotten thee.
8 Ask of me, and I will give thee the nations for thine inheritance,And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.
10 Now therefore be wise, O ye kings: Be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
11 Serve Jehovah with fear, And rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, For his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all they that take refuge in him.
Psalm 2:1-12
Any person who would serve.
Any person who would put self of less importance and let the spirit guide.
I love people that genuinely have love for others.
It's a breath of fresh air.
A servant-leader is my hero.
This is the man I idolize ... the man who can say this with confidence:
"Far be it from me to glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ."
