How do I apply blush?

A sweep of color on the cheeks will enhance your features, and give you a younger, fresher, prettier look. The trick has always been where and how to actually apply it. Here are a few tips from our beauty experts:

First, invest in a proper brush. Don't use blush to create instant cheekbones. The most flattering way to wear blush naturally is to apply it to the "apple" of the cheeks. Locate yours by drawing an imaginary line, down from your pupil, to the center of your cheek. Then lightly blend outwards, towards the top of the ear, covering the entire cheekbone area with soft, sweeping strokes. Try applying blush while you are smiling. Add a little blush to the ball of your cheek and bring it back a little towards the bone. You want to look like the noon sun has hit you on - not under - your cheekbones. Blush is the one piece of makeup that you'll never have to change. Stick with a blush that adds the right healthy glow and change the color of your eyes and lips.

What color blush is right for me?

FAIR-SKINNED women should look for beige, tawny-rose, and pink tones.

OLIVE/YELLOW-TONED SKINS will find warm-toned browns, plums, and roses most flattering.

DARK-SKINNED women can use rich plum, fuchsia, brick, and bronze shades.

REDHEADS/STAWBERRY BLONDES look best in light bronze, peach and coral shades.

Should I use a powder or cream blush?

Powder blush versus cream, gel, or liquid:
