Tucson-based multi-instrumentalist Vicki Brown is a sound sculptress of compositions created with acoustic (violin, viola, vox) and electronic instruments (loopers & other pedals). Playing since she was 9, Vicki's stylings range far and wide. Her improvisational/experimental organic creations reveal ethereal cinematic moods that evoke imagery suitable for one's life soundtrack. Her work is captured on "Winter Garden" (KEEP Recordings, 2006).Her recent projects include collaborating with T.T. Lund (Giant Sand, Desoto Caucus) & The French Cowboy of Nantes, France, work that has yielded hours of material, some of which is posted above.Brown is also an active member and provides the music for Tucson's Movement Salon (http://movementsalon.wordpress.com), a group of movement artists and writers who practice and perform the art of improvisation. The teaching sessions use guided movement and creative writing activities to help people explore relationships between bodies and space, choice and responsibility, and self and others.Besides her solo work, Vicki's violin and voice are frequent contributions to the likes of the Ashes of Love/Chris Black, Naim Amor, Amy Rude, Marianne Dissard, David D'Alessio, Leila Lopez, Cathy Rivers, Campo Bravo...Her contributions may be heard on:

Sounds Like: migrain trains, psychosonic landscapes, a clockshop gone berserk, wide open praries where red-wing blackbirds call out from cattail stalks, deep rumbling mufflers, orbital asymptotes, sad civil war widows, stonehouse drunken dancers, underdseastorm

7 out of 10 "...a tremendous piece, evoking a mood reminiscent of smoky Appalachian dawns with the sun rising on a frosty landscape, crying out for a visual treatment, one can envisage this music set to film...if your mood is right it can put you inside a wonderful musical landscape that rewards repeated listening." Paul Kerr, Americana-UK, November 2006"Clearly, Vicki can play it both heavy and light: Balancing the delicate with the intense, she paints evocative sonic pictures perfect for contemplating, mind-tripping or just spacing out." Carl Hanni, Tucson Weekly, August 2006
