Bless the Mic...

About Me

INI, a long-standing spoken word, hip hop, improv, dance, jazz, soul performance space organization, is now expanding beyond the walls of NYU and moving into the open realm of New York City. Still in its beginning stages, the organization is working towards establishing itself outside of the university in an effort to offer events and workshops to performing artists in NY.
The name: the ultimate expression of the Rastafarian concept of coming together -- I and I, which effectively replaces the personal pronouns (I, you, he, she, etc), that divide us.
You and I are the same, one, united.
The mission: to provide a supportive environment for artists in the community that fosters growth, inspires creativity, and encourages a free flow of expression.
The main event: the Eclipse -- a night of eclectic performances from a diverse group of artists. One part showcase, one part open mic where any and all expressive art is represented and welcome.
