About Me

My profile was customized using the Taming the Beast.net MySpace Layout Generator
I'm all about making music. I'm no phenom, just another avid player who enjoys living with music as their core activity. I'm no spring chicken, so I've had time to explore some different instruments, some different styles, and in different places. Since a divorce four years ago, I've returned to practicing and playing. I had to start gradually because of the rust. I watched with grateful eyes as it fell away. Hard work pays off. Since getting my callouses back, I consistently practice banjo between 1-6 hours a day, then there's guitar, arranging, and composing, gigging..not to mention recording. I have started a band, Becky Taylor & Open Fire. I have a little studio where I teach privately and build/repair instruments. The 'day-job' became history in Nov of '05. Rebuilding my life has been a labor of love, and perhaps a little scary too. Online lessons via web-cam have been enabled...(June 2006). These will be payable via paypal in blocks of four one-hour lessons at $140 for the block of four. Individual lessons are available at $45 per one-hour session. You can email for details and scheduling at [email protected] . Questions about Becky Taylor & Open Fire can be made through the same email address. Another recent and wonderful change was deciding to enroll in Divinity School. I'm now a seminarian! My goal of course is to develop a music ministry in addition to my secular music. I sing, play, arrange and compose for the church I attend now...guitar and occasionally banjo. Yes worship can be fun too. My background includes professional performing, recording and teaching beginning in 1973 and continuing through 1986. I have taught stringed instruments privately and in Jr College. I consistently place in the top couple in the few contests I have entered. I am currently a moderator in the a live voice chat where we share banjo-related live playing. It is open 24/7. Please drop by sometime, ya just never know who will be there when! btw, it is browser based and requires only a simple registration. No unexpected ads will appear as a result of visiting!! We promise. So how could I make more noise than this at my age and survive it? Heyyyyyy... Gracie Muldoon, WorldwideBluegrass.com, and a top shelf crowd of DJs to the the rescue! Look for my live shows 'Out-Of-The-Box'(coming soon) on Tuesdays from 10AM till 1PM (or so) Eastern time AND on Fridays from 8AM until 10 AM Eastern.....And while you're there take note of all the incredibly good REAL stuff going on. Music, fellowhip, info! Thanks for taking the time to read this, and for your interest in my little space. I wish you peace and the best life has available - love!
