About Me

I'm still finding out about me, but this is some of what I've discovered thus far:

According to Myers-Briggs, I am an INTJ, which is, apparently, a very odd person in general and makes and even odder woman in particular. It's amazing that I have any friends at all :P

I am a lefty, but whether or not I'm in my right mind is debatable.

I love the colors blue and green, with purple being a close third.

I love music and everything that goes with that - listening, singing, playing...

I enjoy reading and writing.

I am a member of Mensa, which either makes me feel better about not going to college or makes me feel worse, knowing I squandered my educational opportunities...

My Interests

Music. Music. Music.
Let's see, what else am I interested in?
I enjoy reading Science Fiction shorts for broadcast on the Virginia Voice every week. You can listen online by clicking here:
Virginia Voice Programs On The Web and scrolling down to the "Science Fiction Shorts" link under the heading "Just For Fun" at the bottom of the page.
Other than that, I am interested in my family and friends and enjoying life to it's fullest.

I'd like to meet:

So-called famous people really don't impress me, as a general rule, and I know so many great people right now that my introverted nature can't imagine wanting to meet anyone else. But I'm sure there are many other people out there that I'd like to meet if I knew about them.
Einstein. I'd like to meet Albert Einstein.

Music:

Most definitely. I appreciate a wide variety of music, with the exception of Rap and Opera. My favorite kind of music is usually a little wierd - groups like Queen, ELO, The Decemberists, and Belle & Sebastian come to mind. I tend to gravitate toward anything with a strong beat/syncopation or/and 3-part harmonies. Funky chord progressions and alternating time signatures don't hurt, either. My favorite online listening experiences right now are WFUV and Pandora .
On the active end of music, I am in the band the God Fearin' Snake Handlers - check out our MySpace and watch us as we get better and better at handling snakes...
I also play violin (very poorly), bass (somewhat poorly), and ukulele (working at it)... Engine Driver
.. THE TATERS: THE MAGIC NUMBERS: BELLE & SEBASTIAN: AND JUST BECAUSE IT'S TOO FUNNY:

Movies:

Raising Arizona, Arsenic and Old Lace, You've got Mail, Sense and Sensibility, Best in Show

Television:

Lost, The Weather Channel, This Old House

Books:

The Lovely Bones, Peace Like a River, A Walk In The Woods, Kurt Vonnegut

Heroes:

Anyone who isn't bound by the way things are.

And we're off!  Off to Ohio, and Indiana, and Pennsylvania.  Off to four amusement parks and visiting with family.  Off to two campgrounds and a hotel.....and, most likely, off of MySpa...

it’s too darn hot....but I love this place!

What a scorcher today was!  And it just figures that today was one of the busiest days of the year for Ashland - the Ashland Strawberry Faire!  But, it beats pouring down rain, which we have...

not really a blog

This isn't so much a blog as a journal entry....I don't really keep a journal, per se, so this will have to do.  I'll try and write something more inspiring at another time :) Consider this a "fa...

the sermon for today

I enjoyed sleeping in this morning...I really enjoyed sleeping in.  No church for me today.  And yet, a church service is in no way necessary for me to experience God.  On the contrary,...

remembering the day that Josh came into the world

My son was born at 9:20pm on Tuesday, April 28, 1992.  In some ways, it seems like a lifetime ago, yet I can remember so much of it as if it were yesterday. I remember being alone and pacing a ro...
